Haryana announces paternity leave

Now male employees of the Haryana Government,   on valid adoption of a child below the age of one year, are eligible to avail 15 days’ paternity leave within six months  from date of adoption. This facility would be admissible to those having less than two surviving children.
  A proposal to this effect has been approved by Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
    While stating this today, Haryana Finance Minister, Capt Ajay Singh Yadav clarified that if not availed, this leave would lapse.  This leave would be admissible only in case of adoption of a child and hence it would be called child adoption leave. This leave could not be clubbed with any other type of leave.
 Capt Yadav said that already Haryana Government had sanctioned 180 days maternity leave, 730 days child care leave and 180 days child adoption leave to its female  employees on the pattern of Government of India. He said that Haryana Government employees had demanded that 15 days paternity leave should be given to them on the pattern of Government of India employees.
   He said that there was a provision in Government of India rules that a male employee of Government of India with less than two surviving children, on valid adoption of a child below the age of one year was eligible to get 15 days paternity leave within a period of six months from the date of valid adoption.

Aditi of Lions Public School defeated Nancy Bhargava  of Ryan School in the girls Under-12 singles of the Gurgaon Distirct Table Tennis Championship at The Heritage School here today.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Rajender Kataria inaugurated championship.  Principal Mahesh Prasad welcomed the guests.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner assured full cooperation from the administration for the promotion of the various games. Naresh Sharma, Anil Kumar Parnami, Rajpal Chauhan, Vipul Jain, Prashant Yadav, S.K.Pandey, Priya Mishra, Amit, Kamal Yadav, Laxman Singh, Bijender Singh and Manuj Bhardwaj were among those present on the occasion.

HAU to conduct Radio Jockey course from Sept 1

The Directorate of Extension Education, Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar will conduct three-month Radio Jockey Course from September 1.
  While stating this today, Dr.J.S. Dhankhar, Director, Extension Education said that during the course, the trainees would be provided detailed knowledge of all the aspects of Radio Management and its conduct. Training would also be imparted to them at Community Radio Station being run successfully  in the Directorate. On the completion of the course, the trainees would be given certificates which would be helpful for them in providing employment in media.
       He said that classes for the course would be organised from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. so that regular studies of the students might not suffer. Interaction with the successful Radio Jockey of media sector would also be facilitated. There were 20 seats for this course and admissions would be granted on 'first come first serve' basis, he added.

Haryana to appoint volunteers to impart yoga training in 119 blocks

The Haryana Sports Department has decided to appoint volunteers in all the 119 blocks to impart yoga training in order to give a major thrust to the teaching of Yoga in the state.
    While stating this today, the Minister of State for Home, Mr Gopal Kanda said that Yoga Training Camps were being organized at district level from August 23 to 27 throughout the state. The DPI and PTI of the Government Senior Secondary Schools and High Schools were being imparted yoga training in these camps. The volunteers to be appointed were also being provided training in these camps.  He said that the youth who would show interest in learning yoga would be appointed volunteers to teach the same to the youth and the school children in rural areas of Haryana. 
            He said that the process for their appointment had already begun. Each of these 119 volunteers would be given an honorarium of Rs 1000 per month. The yoga teachings would help the children built the physical and mental stamina. Besides becoming healthy, they would also be able to excel in their studies and in sports. He said that yoga teachers had been sent from headquarter at Chandigarh   to impart yoga training in the camps.

Haryana to confer State Award-2009 to teachers

The Haryana Government has decided to confer State Award-2009 upon meritorious teachers who have done commendable and exemplary work in the field of education, social sector, co-curricular activities and sports.
        While stating this here today, Education Minister, Mrs.Geeta Bhukal said that all the District Education Officers, District Elementary Education Officers, Principals of DIETs/GETTIs in the State had been directed to recommend cases of all eligible teachers for the State Award-2009 positively by August 31, 2010.
   She said that the department had devised a new proforma on the basis of which the eligibility of the merit of the teachers would be assessed. She said that the new proforma had been adopted by the State Government on the pattern of National Award Scheme of Government of India.
       Mrs.Bhukal said that the format of the prescribed proforma could be accessed on the website of the department www.schooleducationharyana.gov.in. She said that for recommending the names of the teachers for the State Award-2009, a District Level Committee consisting District Education Oficer, District  Elementary Education Officer and one Block Education Officer had been formed in each district.
     She said that the teachers including JBT, C&V, masters, lecturers, headmasters and principals of Government as well as aided schools would be eligible for this award. She said that all the educational authorities’ competent to recommend the cases for the State Award-2009 had been given strict instructions to ensure that they must send sufficient number of recommendation of teachers for this award.

MDU M. Ed entrance test on Sept 19

Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) Rohtak,will hold the entrance test for admission to M.Ed. (Regular Course) for the session 2010-2011 on September 19.
A university spokesperson informed that MDU has issued the admission notice for M.Ed. (Regular) Course. The last date for submission of application forms in this regard is Aug. 27. Admission to M.Ed. course in the affiliated Colleges of Education of the University will also be made through this entrance test. Details of the course can be seen on the University website www.mdurohtak.com, informed the spokesperson.
Meanwhile, the last date for submission of application forms for M.Phil (Regular) course, University Research Scholarship (URS), and Pre-Ph.D. course of the University is also Aug. 27. Details about the programme (s) are available on the University website.

HAU to celebrate National Sports Day

Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar  has decided to celebrate National Sports Day  and  birth anniversary of  hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand on August 29, 2010 by organizing  various sports competitions, especially of hockey and football.
        A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of  Director, Students Welfare, Dr Ram Kumar Yadav at Hisar today. Several committees have been constituted to successfully organize this function.
        Dr. Yadav said that about 250 sportspersons would participate in these events. On that day, football match would be organized at 2 p.m., cross country at 4.30 p.m. and hockey match would commence at 5.30 p.m. These events would be held under the supervision of Assistant Director (Sports), Dr N.P. Giri, he added.
          The meeting was attended by lecturers of physical education and organizers of sports events.

 The result of the candidates selected for Soldier General Duty (GD) during recent Ambala rally will be declared on August 21 at 9 a.m. at headquarters of the Recruiting Zone, Ambala Cantonment. 
            While stating this today, a spokesman of the Army Recruiting Office said that recruitment rally for Soldier GD for districts of Ambala, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, Kaithal, Panchkula and Chandigarh (UT) was held from May 5 to 14 at Police Lines, Ambala City. Haryana to construct model schools and girls hostels

The Haryana School Education Department  has a plan to construct a number of model schools and girls’ hostels at various locations in the state.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Department said that a design competition would be held for selecting the best architectural design of a model school and a girls’ hostel to be adopted at various places in the state. Three prizes of Rs 1 lakh, Rs 70,000 and Rs 40,000 would be given as first, second and third prize respectively.
He said that entry to competition was open to Indian nationals who hold a degree in architecture along with a valid registration with Council of Architecture (COA), New Delhi. Also, the applicant should have at least two years practical experience in the field and one completed educational building of at least 30,000 sq. ft area and proof of registration with COA, New Delhi.
Interested architects or institutions might submit their entry along with the documents including a brief curriculum vitae, attested documentary proof of practical experience and registration. However, in case of Institutions attested documentary proof of practical experience and registration were not applicable. Registration fee of Rs.1, 000 by way of a demand draft in the name of Model School Scheme, Haryana Prathmik Shiksha  Pariyojna  Parishad ( HPSPP), Chandigarh might be submitted to State Project Director, Chandigarh by September 8, 2010, he added.
He said that all entries received in the competition including prize winning ones would form the sole property of the Parishad and it could use these drawings for any of its future projects. The Parishad also reserved its right to offer the selected or short listed drawings to any of the participating architects or institutions for preparation of the detailed design or structural drawings or estimates or BOQ on terms and conditions to be notified separately.
He said that only such entries which fulfill the minimum conditions lay down above and those who submit the registration fee mentioned above would qualify for participation in the competition. A jury of eminent persons would review and award the entries. The decision of the jury or Department would be final and no objections to the same would be entertained. Haryana Chess at Gurgaon from Aug 20

The XXV1 Haryana State Open Chess Championship 2010 will be hosted by the District Chess Association Gurgaon at Lions Public School, Sector- 10-A in Gurgaon from August 20 to 22, according to Haryana Chess Association general secretary Pradeep Gupta.
The Haryana team will be selected during the state meet for paticipation in the 48th National ‘B’ Challengers’ Chess Championship to be organised at Preksha Vihar in Bhiwani from  September 15 to 26.
Top eight districts for the will also be selected for the forthcoming Haryana Sports Festival, which will be conducted by Haryana Olympic Association.
According to Organizing Secretary Naresh Sharma a total cash prize of Rs 14,000 will be distributed among the winners of the state championship.
Tentatively seven rounds will be played under the FIDE Laws of the Chess. Entry fee is Rs. 150 per person. Free dormitory type accommodation will be given to all outstation players.

Two tableaus put up by class X, XI and XII students took every one back to the memory lane of the freedom struggle. This set up a spriti of patriotism among all. The programme concluded with the distribution of sweets.

DPS Pinjore win U-19 tennis title

Delhi Public School, Pinjore defeated Satluj Public School of Panchkula by 2-0 in the under-19 final of the Panchkula District Inter-School Tennis Tournament at the Manav Mangal School courts here today. The DPS team comprised Taranjot Singh, Sanam Mehra, Hallik Bansal and Vaibhav Kwatra.
DPS claimed the under-19 tennis trophy for the first time. Their Under-14 tennis team remained runners-up.
Recently, DPS Pinjore had won the Panchkula District Inter-School Football Championship for the fifth time in a row.

The Gurgaon Distict Seniors Chess Championship will be held from August 7 at Kothi No. 534  in Sector 39, the learning Centre of Distt. Chess Association Gurgaon. The tournament is open for all.
Tentatively 6- 7 rounds, depending upon the number of entries, shall be played. Matches will start at 4.00 p.m. No entry will be accepted after 8.00 p.m. on August 6. Entry fee is Rs.250 per head.
