Jhajjar district to soon have a Sainik School

CHANDIGARH, JULY 15
Matanhail of Jhajjar district in Haryana will have the third Sainik School of the state as the government will provide land and budget for its construction soon. The state already has two Sainik Schools, one running at Kunjpura, Karnal and other at Rewari. With the construction of the third Sainik School, Haryana will become the only state in the country to have three Sainik Schools.
This was disclosed by Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu today.
He said that the foundation stone of this Sainik School was laid in 2003 by the then Union Defence Minister, Mr George Fernandez. In the ten-year of Congress government, however, no efforts were made to materialise the construction of school. Now, the present government has approved to provide land and budget for the school and it would soon be set up.
He said that he had raised this issue in 2014 during the BJP rally of ex-servicemen in Rewari. The rally was then addressed by BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate, Mr Narendra Modi at that time. With the opening of this Sainik School, many students would get its benefit.
He said that the state government has approved to transfer about 100 acres land of village Matanhail and Rudiyawas for this school. He said that Haryana is a land of brave and lakhs of soldiers are serving at borders to protect the country. In view of Haryana’s participation in Army, the foundation stone of Sainik School was laid in the regime of former Prime Minister, Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee in September 7,2003. Nearly after one and a half year, Congress government took over the reins in the state and the project of setting up of Sainik School was shelved. He said that despite being in opposition, he had raised this demand with Congress government to open the school soon, but the government paid no attention to it.
He said that after the BJP government came in Centre and State, serious efforts have been made to set up this school. In this regard, Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal had also written to Union Defence Minister and after getting the reply from Union Defence Minister, the proceedings were begun to provide land, infrastructure and other facilities to the school. He said that the state government has approved the proposal of spending about Rs 50 crore in three years for the construction of school and its infrastructure. In this connection, an MoU would soon be signed between Haryana government and the Union Ministry of Defence.
