CM announces incentives for Sanskrit teachers

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced incentives for the Sanskrit teachers and grants for Gurukuls of the State so that the ancient language and culture could be promoted in a big way in the state.
Mr Hooda, who was presiding over meeting here with the delegations of Sanskrit teachers and Haryana Sanskriti and Sanskrit Raksha Samiti to consider their demands, announced with generosity that grant would be given to the Gurukuls with a view to promote the ancient Gurukul culture.
He said that Gurukuls having 100 students would be given a grant of Rs. 1.50 lakh annually, those having 200 students would get a grant of Rs. 2.50 lakh per annum. Similarly, the Gurukuls having more than 200 students would be given a grant of Rs. 3.50 lakh annually. The number of students would be taken as those who appear in
the examination.
While discussing the qualifications of Sanskrit teachers, the Chief Minister announced that in future the qualification for recruitment of Sanskrit teachers would be (1) Shastri/B.A. Hons. in Sanskrit/B.A. with Sanskrit as an elective subject. (2) B.Ed with Sanskrit as teaching subject or LTC/OT/Shiksha Shastri.
It was also decided that out of six subjects, marks of five best scoring subjects would be counted for the result in Matric though the students would have to pass the five compulsory subjects which included Hindi, English, Math, Science and Social Studies. This has been done to ensure that the students take equal interest in
optional subjects which includes Sanskrit.
Member of ParliamentRam Prakash and President of Arya Pratinidhi Sabha, Haryana, Acharya Baldev expressed their gratitude towards the Chief Minister for accepting the demands of Sanskrit teachers and Gurukuls. They said that this step would further help in promoting the Sanskrit language which was considered as the mother of
all languages.
Commissioner and Secretary, Education, Mr Rajan Gupta apprised the Chief Minister that the decision to consider the Shastri and OT equal to B.A. and B.Ed. had been taken in view of the interest of the Sanskrit teachers.
Those present in the meeting included Education Minister Mr Mange Ram Gupta, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. M.L. Tayal, Director General School Education, Mr. Anurag Rastogi, Political Advisor to Chief Minister, Prof. Virender, Director Haryana Sanskrit Akadami, Dr. R. D. Sharma and OSD to Chief Minister, Mr. M.S. Chopra.
