Special Lok Adalats for settling cases of senior citizens were held in all District Court Complexes as well as Sub Division Courts of Haryana recently and 1646 cases were taken up out of which 183 cases were settled. These included 4 Motor Accident Claims Tribunal cases pertaining to death or injury arising out of vehicular accidents wherein an amount of Rs 10.70 lakh was awarded as compensation.
While giving this information here today, a spokesman of the Haryana State Legal Services Authority said that 179 cases pertaining to other categories like civil and petty crimes, revenue and pending bank loan cases and those at pre-litigative stage were also settled.
He said that if any person is interested to get his or her case settled in the Lok Adalat, he or she may move an application to the concerned District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman or Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority in district or Additional Civil Judge (Senior Division) or Senior Most Civil Judge-cum-Chairman of Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee under whose jurisdiction the case falls.
