Haryana Government notifies public holidays

CHANDIGARH, NOV 29
The Haryana Government has notified the schedule of holidays to be observed as public holidays in the public offices under the State Government during the calendar year 2019. The Government has also notified the holidays to be observed as public holidays in the State (Except Judicial Courts, in Haryana) within the meaning of section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881.
        While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that a notification in this regard has been issued by General Administration Department.
        He said that besides all Sundays and Saturdays, the holidays which would be observed as public holidays in the public offices included Guru Ravidas Jayanti on February 19, Mahashivratri on March 4, Holi on March 21, Mahavir Jayanti on April 17, Lord Parshu Ram Jayanti on May 7, Id-ul-Fitr on June 5, Maharana Pratap Jayanti on June 6, Sant Kabir Jayanti on June 17, Shaheed Udham Singh’s Martyrdom Day on July 31, Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) on August 12, Independence Day/Rakshabandhan on August 15, Shaheedi Divas/Haryana War Heroes’ Martyrdom Day on September 23, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, Dussehra on October 8, Vishvakarma Day on October 28, Haryana Day on November 1, Guru Nanak Dev’s Birthday on November 12 and Christmas Day on December 25.
          The spokesman said that the festivals and occasions which falls on non-working days and have been excluded from the list included Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti on January 13, Republic Day on January 26, Basant Panchami/Sir Chhotu Ram Jayanti on February 10, Shaheedi Diwas/Martyrdom Day of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on March 23, Ram Navmi on April 13, Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s Jayanti on April 14, Janmashtami on August 24, Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti on September 29, Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti on October 13 and Diwali on October 27.
          He said that besides these holidays, employees may be allowed any three holidays to be chosen out of the Restricted Holidays. These included Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Jayanti (with State celebration) on February 28, Good Friday on April 19, Budh Purnima on May 18, Guru Arjan Dev’s Martyrdom Day on June 7, Hariyali Teej on August 3, Muharram on September 1, Karwa Chauth on October 17, Goverdhan Puja on October 28, Chhath Puja on November 2, Milad-un-Nabi or Id-E-Milad (Birthday of Prophet Mohammad) on November 10, Guru Teg Bahadur’s  Martyrdom Day on November 24 and Shaheed Udham Singh’s Birthday on December 26.
          He said that holidays to be observed as public holidays in the State (Except Judicial Courts, in Haryana) within the meaning of section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881 included all Sundays, Republic Day on January 26, Guru Ravidas’s Birthday on February 19, Mahashivratri on March 4, Holi on March 21, Annual Closing of Bank Account (1st working day of April) on April 1, Dr. B.R Ambedkar’s Jayanti on April 14, Mahavir Jayanti on April 17, Budh Purnima on May 18, Id-ul-Fitr on June 5, Id-ul-Zuha (Bakr-Id) on August 12, Independence Day on August 15, Janmashtami on August 24, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, Dussehra on October 8, Maharishi Valmiki’s Birthday on October 13, Diwali on October 27, Guru Nanak Dev’s Birthday on November 12 and Christmas Day on December 25.
