43rd Haryana Day celebrated in traditional way




CHANDIGARH, Nov 1
The 43rd Haryana Day was celebrated in a traditional way with great zeal and enthusiasm at Haryana Raj Bhawan here today where the Haryana Governor Dr. A.R. Kidwai was the chief guest and Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda presided over the function.
Extending his heartiest congratulations to the people of Haryana on this significant day, in his message the Governor said that the State of Haryana has emerged as the lead state in every field of human endavour in the country.
He said that Haryana today is one of the fastest growing economies and had the highest per capita income in the country. This State is strengthening its economy and democratic norms for further advancements through its progressive social and economic policies and programmes. The 12th Finance Commission, Planning Commission and the Union Finance Ministry have commended its fiscal management, the Governor said.
Appreciating the multidimensional progress of the State, the Governor said that this small state of the country had also taken lead in the manufacturing of motor cars, scooters and two-wheelers. He appealed to the people of the State to maintain this record speed of development in every walk of life in future too and they should take it their prime responsibility.
Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda also extended his greetings to the people of Haryana on this occasion. Delivering his message to the people, the Chief Minister said that right from the beginning it was his dream that Haryana should be a number one State of the country in every field of development and prosperity.
He expressed his satisfaction and happiness that his dream of making Haryana a number one State of the country had been fulfilled to a great extent.. He urged the people of the State to cooperate and coordinate with the government for taking the state to the highest peak of achievements in the field of development and progress.
Three districts of Haryana namely Bhiwani, Jhajjar and Gurgaon have attained first three positions respectively in improving sex ratio during the year 2007 and have, therefore, been awarded cash awards by Haryana Governor, Dr A.R.Kidwai today, on the occasion of Haryana Day celebrations.
Bhiwani district has been awarded a cash award of Rs five lakh as its sex ratio improved from 861 females per 1000 males in 2006 to 895 by the end of 2007. Mr. T.L. Satyaparkash, DC Bhiwani received this award from the Governor and the Chief Minister.
Similarly, district Jhajjar has been awarded second prize of Rs three lakh for improving sex ratio from 797 females per 1000 males in 2006 to 826 females by the end of 2007. Mr. Nitin Yadav, DC. Jhajjar received this award.
Gurgaon district was ranked third and awarded a cash prize of Rs two lakh for improving sex ratio from 826 females per 1000 males in 2006 to 850 females in 2007. The City Magistrate, Gurgaon received this award.
The Governor and the Chief Minister honoured five artistes with Devi Shankar Prabhakar Jan Sanchar and Lok Sanskriti Awards. These five renowned artistes included Satya Narayan Vashisth, Prem Singh Dehati, Niranjan Singh, Mange Ram Khatri and Harvinder Rana who got these awards for their outstanding performance in the fields of art, cultural, public relations, folk music, folk songs, community and rural development and social fields. Each artist was given a cash award of Rs 21,000 and a Commendation Certificate.
Two parts of the first volume of the encyclopedia on cultural aspects of Haryana compiled by a renowned historian Ms. Shamim Sharma, Dr. Neelima Prabha, Pradeep Kasni and Puran Chand Sharma were also released by the Governor and the Chief Minister. This encyclopedia is being written in guidance of a committee under the Chairmanship of Mr. K.K. Khandelwal, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Commissioner and Secretary and Director, Information and Public Relations Department Haryana.
The Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Dr. Raghuvir Singh Kadian, Union Minister of State for Finance, Pawan Kumar Bansal, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee President, Phool Chand Mullana, Working HPCC President, Kuldeep Sharma, Health Minister, Mrs. Kartar Devi, Haryana Chief Secretary, Dharam Vir, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, M. L. Tayal, Senior Police and Civil Officers also present in this function.
