CHANDIGARH, JUNE 29

Dr. M. S. Malik, IPS (Rtd.) President Jat Sabha Chandigarh, Akhil  Bhartiya Shaheed Samman Sanghrash Samiti and former Director General of Police, Haryana said that a special campaign to provide on the spot consultancy, super-specialty/free medical check-up camp particularly for the have-nots, senior citizens, dependants of war heroes, ex-servicemen, women and children residing in rural areas/semi-urban buckets has  been launched.

                He further said the necessity to organize the free medical check-ups in rural areas has since been found on account of government apathy towards rural health and lack of awareness in this regard amongst rural masses.  Figures of infant mortality are alarming as 17 lakh 26 thousand children die per annum within 5 years of their birth.  Similarly, nine lakh  children also die within a period of one month of their birth on account of lack of proper medical care.

                In addition, 56.4% women particularly  of the rural areas are reportedly found suffering from one disease or other on account of  non-availability of proper medical care.  At the same time, figures of heart ailments, cardiologic ailments, cancer, T.B. patients are also on the increase beyond proportion.  A state like Haryana  has the figures of more than one lakh registered cancer patients and more than 1.5 lac heart patients and double the number can be counted of T.B. patients.   

There is a shortage of 12000 specialized doctors in the hospitals and dispensaries in the nation and the budget on health services has been reduced  from 60% to 40%.  It is quite surprising that 80% expenditure on maintenance of person health is going to private hospitals and clinics which indicates total lack of medical facilities for the common man in rural India.  Similarly, 14.5% people die daily on account of the road accidents and 50% of such death occur due to non-availability of proper care and medical aid.

                The joint venture by the Jat Sabha Chandigarh,  Akhil Bhartiya Shaheed Samman Sanghrash Samiti and Bhai Surinder Singh Malik Memorial Education Society, Nidani, Distt. Jind (Haryana) to provide first class free medical check-up services has been launched.  More than 2 dozen doctors and 4 dozen technical staff/volunteers have already offered their services to provide free professional and technical services during this Campaign.  Similarly, pharmaceutical companies like Delco Pharmaceuticals Delhi/Bahadurgarh, Crystal pharmaceuticals Ambala City and M/s  Dallas Formulation Private Limited, Baddi (H.P) have already offered their services  for providing free prescribed medicines during the free medical check-up Camp.

          The first phase of the programme has already been launched in rural area of Jind.  OPD registration of the patients for the first of its kind mega free medical camp  being held at Bhai Surendar Singh Malik Memorial Girls Senior Secondary School, Nidani (Jind) on  July 3, 2011 has already commenced from w. e. f.  June 25, with the help and aid of Civil Hospital Jind. 

More than 3000 patients are likely to undergo the examination in the Camp.  Dr. H.K. Bali, MD (DM) CARD, Director Department of Cardiology, Fortis Hospital, Mohali will inaugurate the camp and Prof.(Dr.) Virendar Singh, MD, DM, Head of Department of Heptalogy, PGIMER Chandigarh will preside over the camp. Dental check-up and lab testing will be carried out by SGT Medical College New Delhi under the guidance of Dr. Umesh Lamba, Medical Superintendent of the College,  children check up will be looked by Dr. (Mrs.) Pratibha Singhi, head of Pediatrics Unit, PGIMER Chandigarh with  her team.   

Similarly, Dr. Kamla Singh and her team of doctors will take care of female patients.  Eye patients will be taken care of by Dr. Baba Lal Giri Bharat of Mela Kamalmochan (Yamunanagar) and his team with close association of  Kishan Lal Jalan Govt. Eye Hospital Bhiwani and District Blindness Treatment Samiti, Bhiwani. General OPD will be looked after by Dr. Raminder Singh, Dr. Veer Singh Malik from Gohana and Dr. (Col.) N.K. Bhatia from Chandigarh.  25 nurses students from Birendar Singh College of Nurses Uchana (Jind) will assist the doctors and physicians in the Camp.   Similarly, technical laboratory will be established by Sh. B. L. Sharma Director, S.P. Clinical laboratory Chandigarh and  Dr. Naresh Sharma, Director, Laboratory & X-Ray Centre Kaithal. 

                Dr. Malik further said that all the doctors and technical staff attending the Camp shall also be  honoured by Mrs. Krishna Malik, Chairperson, Ch. Bharat Singh Memorial Education Society, Nidani and also that of Bhai Surendar Singh Malik Memorial Medical Science & Education Samiti, Nidani.  At the same time, all the doctors will also be honoured by Jat Sabha Chandigarh and Akhil Bhartiya Shaheed Samman Sanghrash Samiti and nurses students and technical staff shall also be awarded social service merit certificates.
