The job of Public Relations Officers is very challenging and they should keep their knowledge and information up-to-date and perform their duties with dedication so as to maintain their creditability at any cost.
This was stated by Mr. Shiv Raman Gaur, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Haryana and Director, Information, Public Relations and Cultural Affairs Department while addressing the officers after inaugurating a five-day training course for the newly appointed Assistant Information and Public Relations Officers (AIPROs) at Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra.
The training course has been organized jointly by the institute of Public Relations and Media Technology, Kurukshetra University and Information, Public Relations and Cultural Affairs Department, Haryana. During the course, newly appointed AIPROs would be acquainted with the nature and functions of the department.
He described Press as the Fourth Estate of democracy and said that it plays an important role in opinion building. The scope of print and electronic media had expanded to a great extent over the last ten years and the Public Relations Officers should set an ideal example by maintaining cordial relations with the media persons in such a scenario. The Public Relations Officers should exercise restraint even in odd circumstances and provide latest information regarding the policies and the programmes of the State Government to the media, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, senior journalist Mr. Ajit Rai said that Public Relations Officers were greatest patriots as they not only propagate the schemes and programmes of the Government, but also benefit crores of people by providing vital information to them. The Information and Public Relations Department, Haryana is the leading department in the country which is serving the society by discharging its duty honestly and dedicatedly.
Welcoming Mr. Shiv Raman Gaur, Director, Institute of Public Relations and Media Technology, Dr. Rajbir said that the institute was focusing on training and research along with studies.
