Dhanwantry College doctors visit Hallmark Public School

The four days medical check-up camp, for the classes Playway to VII was concluded on July 27. The pupils were guided for eye care, oral care, personal hygiene & healthy eating habits etc. The dental check-up camp was also organized where dentures were examined and 'Care and Cure' tips were given.

Dr Vinayak appointed Dean MDU Academic Affairs

The Vice Chancellor of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak has appointed Dr. Ravinder Vinayak, Professor, Dept. of Commerce as the Dean, Academic Affairs of the University.
         The  MDU, Registrar Dr. S.P. Vats said that Prof. Ravinder Vinayak would take over the charge of Dean, Academic Affairs with effect from August 1. The present incumbent Prof. Surinder Kumar will retire on July 31.

Haryana Teachers Eligibility Test on Sept 24 and 25

Haryana State Teachers Eligibility Test will be conducted by the Haryana Education Board, Bhiwani on September 24 and 25, 2011.
          While stating this today, a spokesman of the Board said that on September 24, it would be conducted in two groups. Under first group, the test would be conducted for the teachers teaching class I to V and under second group, it would be conducted for the teachers teaching class VI to VIII. On September 25, test would be conducted for the lecturers' category.
          He said that prospectus-cum-application forms for the eligibility test would be made available at Boards Headquarters, Bhiwani, booksellers registered with board and District Coordination Centres at all district headquarters from August 2. The forms complete in all respect could be submitted to the District Coordination Centre concerned by August 12.
          Giving details of the examinations, he said that as per the latest decisions, the duration of the examination in each category would be one-and-a-half hours and there would be 150 questions of one mark each. There would be no negative marking. The decision was based on the notification and guidelines issued by NCTE. The application forms could be obtained on payment of Rs 600 for the candidates of general category and Rs 300 for the candidates of Scheduled Castes and Physically Handicapped.

Bhagat and Gulshan elected on MDU Executive Council

Dr. Bhagat Singh  of  Department of Physical Education  and Dr. Gulshan Taneja of Department of Mathematics  were elected to the Executive Council   of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak in a closely contested election today.
                   In the election for membership of the Executive Council   held under the provisions of Statute 11 of the MDU Act, Dr. Bhagat Singh polled 7300 and Dr. Gulshan Taneja polled 6500 votes respectively to emerge as winners in preferential system of voting. Both of them will be members of Executive Council   with effect from July 23 for a period of two years.

Walk-in-interview for teachers in Haryana

Haryana School Education Department has decided to organise walk-in-interview to fill up various teaching and non-teaching posts in Aarohi Model Schools set up in districts of Mewat and Palwal.
          While stating this here today, a spokesman of the department said that the application format could be downloaded from the departmental website www.schooleducationharyana.gov.in.
          Walk-in-interview for the candidates of district Mewat would be held in the office of Deputy Commissioner at Nuh and for those of district Palwal in the office of Deputy Commissioner at Palwal on July 25,2011.
          He said that with a view to providing quality education in the Educationally Backward Blocks(EBBs) of the State, Special Model Schools called Aarohi Model Schools were being setup. These schools were progressive, secular, child-centric, co-educational  and committed to provide quality education. These were being setup under a scheme of Central Government aimed at creation of 6000 Model Schools in Educationally backward blocks of the country.
          As many as 36 such schools had already been setup in the EBBs of the State. These schools were operated by individual societies headed by the Deputy Commissioner of the district, he added.
          He said that the blocks where such schools had been setup included Bapoli in Panipat district, Hassanpur, Hathin, Hodal and Palwal in Palwal district, Ferozepur Jhirkha, Nagina, Nuh, Punhana, Taoru in Mewat district, Bhattu Kalan, Bhuna, Fatehabad, Ratia and Tohana in Fatehabad district, Nangal   Chaudhary in Mahendergarh district, Kaithal, Kalayat and Rajaund in Kaithal district, Alewa, Narwana and Uchana in Jind district, Agroha, Barwala, Hansi-I, Hissar, Narnaund and Uklana in Hisar district, Tosham and Siwani in Bhiwani district, Baragudha, Dabwali, Ellanabad, Nathusari Chopta, Odhan and Rania in Sirsa district.
          These Model Schools would have infrastructure and facilities of the same standard as in a Kendriya Vidalaya. The teacher Pupil Ratio would not exceed 1:25 and the classrooms would be spacious enough to accommodate at least 30 students, he added.

Punjab to host 5-nation kabaddi for women

The Punjab Government has introduced Five-Nation Women Kabaddi Tournament and it will be conducted simultaneously along with the second World Cup Kabaddi Punjab-2011 to be hosted in last week of October and first week of November this year in Punjab.
Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said that Punjab is all set to organize the Five-Nation Women Kabaddi  and the highest prize money World Cup Kabaddi.
      Reviewing the arrangement for World Cup Kabaddi in the high level meeting with the Punjab Sports Department and office bearers of the Punjab Kabaddi Association, Mr Sukhbir Badal said that there was also a need to encourage women kabaddi in the country. India, USA, Canada , UK and Iran would participate. For the women section prize money would be 25 Lakh for the winner and 15 lakh for runner up and 10 lakh each for other participating teams. He said that it was for the first time that any international tournament for women kabaddi would be organized with such high prize money.
Finalizing the arrangements for World Cup Kabaddi it was decided that 16 nations would vie for World Cup Kabaddi title and teams would be divided into four groups. The country topping each league would qualify for semi-finals. He said that the prize money for the title has been doubled to two crore where as team securing second and third position would get Rs. one crore and  Rs.51 lakh respectively.
 Mr. Suhbir Badal said that all matches would be organized in the flood light and will be telecast live throughout the world fulfilling the long pending demand of Punjabis living in Canada USA , Europe, Australia and Gulf countries.
 The newly constructed flood lit stadium in Bathinda would witness glittering opening ceremony that is set to put opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games to a shade. Bathinda would also host both semifinals. The industrial city of Ludhiana would witness the culmination of 2nd World Cup Kabaddi as closing ceremony and final match would decide World Champion in the traditional game of Punjab.    
       He said that this time it has been decided to take this game to the hotbed of  traditional Punjab style kabaddi game and it has been decided to hold the matches in the 12 venues mostly in the rural areas. This year four new venues at Dhudike (Moga), Mansa, SBS Nagar (Nawansheher) and TaranTarn have been included to take this game to the rural hotbed of the State and Patiala , Jalandhar , Gurdaspur and Hoshiarpur are set to welcome players from all over the World for this keenly contested 2nd World Cup Kabaddi.
Participating in the deliberation Mr. Sikander Singh Maluka President Punjab Kabaddi Association said that 16 nations that are going to participate in the tournament that be India, Pakistan, Iran, Canada, USA, UK, Italy, Australia, Spain, Afghanistan and New teams including Sri Lanka, Norway, Tiawan, Irish Army and Argentina. He said that like last tournament doping test would be conducted strictly on all participating players.

Haryana CM receives Krishi Karman Award from PM

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh presented the “Krishi Karman Award”, the Best Performing State Award for Wheat for the year 2010-11 to Haryana State and it was received by Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda at the 83rd Foundation Day function of the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) in New Delhi today.
 It is for the first time that the State has won this prestigious award. The award carries Rs. one crore in cash, a citation and a trophy.
       As per the citation, the Award has been given for exemplary work of supporting farmers of the State and for achieving highest productivity and production of wheat during Rabi 2010-11. Appreciating the dedicated efforts made by the State in extending technological inputs and services to the farmers, the citation further says that the notable initiative of setting up of pioneering soil health, mapping village-level soil fertility, water management, ensuring 100 per cent  seed treatment of certified seeds of wheat, effective control of yellow rust disease, promotion of resource conservation technologies, increase in seed replacement rate has resulted in the State achieving its highest ever productivity and production of wheat during 2010-11. Introduction of compulsory foundation training to new recruits in the department and refresher courses for in service officers on the pattern of Indian Administrative Service has strengthened the extension wing of the department.
          While speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh called upon the agricultural scientists to usher in the Second Green Revolution. He commended the hard work of farmers and said that their income must increase. Prime Minister said that investment in agricultural research and development needs to be more than doubled by 2020 to achieve the target of 280 million tonnes of foodgrains production.
       Later talking to mediapersons, the Chief Minister said that the credit for this achievement goes to the hard working farmers of Haryana and this was the reason that Haryana today is one of the leading States in production of wheat, pulses and mustard. This achievement is a record in itself, he said. Mr Hooda expressed confidence that with the use of scientific methods and modern agro-practices, Haryana will gain more achievements in the field of agriculture.
       During 2008-09 wheat production in Haryana  reached 113.60 Metric Tonnes (MT) with productivity of 4,614 kg per hectare which was highest in the country. As a result the State was able to contribute 69.2 lakh MT of wheat to the Central foodgrain pool, which is the second highest after Punjab. Haryana is the first and the only State in the country to ensure 100 per cent treatment of certified seeds of wheat produced by Government as well as private seed producers during Rabi 2010-11. The entire cost on seed treatment was borne by State Government. A special campaign was launched to educate farmers regarding the fungal disease ‘Yellow rust’ and control measures were taken on war-footing. As a result of initiatives taken, there has been a record production of 116.30 lakh  meteric tonnes of wheat in 2010-11 and the productivity has also reached the highest ever level of 4,624 kg. per hectare in the State.
       At the award ceremony Punjab and Uttar Pradesh got the Award of Best Performing States in the foodgrain production in 2010-11 in Group 1. In Group 2, Orissa and Assam and in Group 3, Tripura got the award. In individual crops, awards went to Chhatisgarh for rice, Maharastra and Rajasthan for pulses and Karnataka for Coarse Cereals.      
       The Union Agriculture Minister, Mr Sharad Panwar and Union Minister of State for Agriculture Mr Harish Rawat also commended the efforts being made by the States in increasing production of foodgrains.
Haryana Agriculture Minister, Mr Paramvir Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr Chhatar Singh, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Agriculture, Mr Roshan Lal and Director General, Agriculture Mr Ashok Yadav were also present on the occasion.

A mesmerizing fancy dress & declamation contest

To create awareness amongst them, a declamation contest on the theme 'Social Taboos in India' was also organized. Students of class III onwards participated enthusiastically in it. The issues of child labour, drug addiction, female foeticide, dowry system etc. were picked up by the students for the Preliminary round, which held in their respective classes and the best were selected for the final round. The Judgement was made on the basis of content, pronunciation and presentation.

Online application for scholarship for minority students

Minority students in Haryana eligible for Merit-Cum-Means Scholarships are advised to apply on line for the scholarship on website www.minorityaffairs.gov.in by using the user name and password of their institutes by July 31, 2011.

Accordingly, the user ID and passwords, which are required by the institutions, had been created and mailed to the concerned institution by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department.
          The spokesman said that Merit-Cum-Means Scholarships for the minority students was being run by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India through the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Haryana. From the session 2011-12, Government of India had decided that the applications for Merit-Cum-Means Scholarships would be accepted only through on line.

MDU data entry oiperator's intervew on July 20

CHANDIGARH, JULY 12
Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak will hold the interviews for the post of clerk-cum-junior data entry operator on July 20 at 11 a.m. in the office of Vice Chancellor.
            While stating this here today, a spokesman of the university said that the interview letters had been dispatched to the successful candidates of computer typing and data entry tests. In case anyone had not received the letters, they could contact the concerned officer of establishment branch.
Meanwhile, Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak has abolished the mandatory practice of attestation by gazetted officers in various administrative works as per the directions of the State Government.
            While stating this here today, a spokesman of the University said that the attestation would not be necessary for the issuance of duplicate degree, provisional marks sheet, duplicate migration certificate, photograph and photocopy of marks sheets.  Now the self attestation would suffice the purpose. However, any identity card prescribed by Election Commission would have to be shown for obtaining any official document.
