Unani Medical College to be set up in Nuh

CHANDIGARH, MARCH 7
 Haryana AYUSH Minister, Mr. Anil Vij, said that a Government Unani Medical College and Hospital would be set up at village Akera in district Nuh at a cost of Rs 10.50 crore to promote AYUSH medicine systems in the State. The Gram Panchayat has given a piece of land measuring six acre for establishing the college and hospital.
        The Minister, who was replying to a question in Budget Session of Vidhan Sabha here today, said that the college was being set up on the demand of the people of the area. The Central and State Governments would bear the cost in the ratio 60:40. After the completion of all formalities, a proposal in this regard would be sent to the Central Government.
        He said that the college would offer 60 seats of Bachelor in Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS). He said that the lack of Unani doctors was posing an obstacle in the achievement of the State Government’s aim to establish AYUSH Wing in all districts. As only 19 Unani doctors are practising in the State, the medicine system would be popularised, he added.
        Replying to another question, he said that with a view to reduce mortality rate among 0-5 years of age group, due to Pneumonia, the State Government was planning to introduce Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV) in the State’s Routine Immunisation Programme in 2017 under Atal Jeevan Rakshak Tikakaran Yojana during the Swarna Jayanti Celebrations of the State.
          He said that Routine Immunisation Programme was being implemented in Haryana for protection against ten Vaccine Preventable Diseases, namely Tuberculosis, Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, Hepatitis-B, Haemophilus Influenza Type-B (Hib), Polio, Measles, Japanese Encephalitis and Rotavirus Diarrhoeia. The Rotavirus vaccine, which costs Rs 2,200 in the market, is administered free of cost, he added.
          Relying to another question, he said that process had been initiated to fill up 662 vacancies of Medical Officers and requisitions for 2,828 posts of Paramedical Staff had been sent to the Haryana Staff Selection Commission. This would meet requirement for doctors and other staff in Primary Health Centres in Hathin, Nangal Jat and Mandkola, along with the hospitals in the entire State, he added.
