Chandigarh, Feb. 11 A sum of about Rs.3.10 crore was being spent on establishing computer labs in 42 Government Senior Secondary schools of Sirsa district during the current financial year.
A spokesman of the Education Department said that these computer labs were being set up to impart quality computer education to the students studying in government schools as per policy of the State Government. These labs would be set
up under non plan scheme of the department. Such computer labs had already been set up in 24 Government Senior Secondary Schools.
A hall-type room measuring 30' x 32' was being constructed for each lab in which 25 computers would be installed, whereas in the labs already constructed
10 more computers would be installed in each lab, said the spokesman, adding that all these labs would be equipped with all the modern facilities and would have the facility of internet as well.
He said that the State Government had tied up with NICT Company to provide computer teachers in the schools. Two computer teachers were being appointed in the Schools having strength of students from class 6th to 12th upto 599 and the schools having more strength than 599 would be provided with three computer teachers. Computers labs and EDUSAT system were being set up in the Sanskriti schools being set up in the district.
He said that EDUSAT system in 19 schools of the district had already been linked with the Satellite Electric Terminal and 11 Sanskriti Model Schools had also been linked with this system. Besides, DTH Service had also been provided to ensure smooth functioning of EDUSAT system in 60 schools of the district. Two senior secondary schools in each block of Sirsa, Dabwali, Ellenabad, Rania and Kalanwali had been upgraded to Sanskriti Model Schools as per policy of the State Government.
Similarly, Senior Secondary School, Panniwala Mota had also been upgraded to Sanskriti Model School. A sum of Rs.50 lakh had been spent in each school for the improvement of education and sports,he added.
