India's first paperless police station in Gurgaon

The Civil Line Police Station of Gurgaon has become India's first paperless police station which is equipped with modern high-tech technologies. This police station would act as single window platform for all police related services and facilities in Gurgaon and it would soon be formally inaugurated. It is an endeavor of the Hooda government to provide the people of Gurgaon with high-tech facilities matching those of ultra-modern cities of the
World.
Establishing new trends, away from the conventional 'munshi room' (clerk room) structure at police station, this police station has a high tech clerk room where one can register one's complaint/FIR with ease. The aggrieved party would be given the print out of his complaint or FIR on the spot with the reference number for future use.
Afterward, the concerned police staff would forward the complaint or FIR to the senior officers for monitoring purpose and to Investigating Officer (IO) for necessary action. This room resembles a modern call centre's work station.
Gurgaon Police Commissioner Mohinder Lal today inspected this paperless police station and informed that this modern police station has a 'public block' at the entrance of the building where one can seek all types of information regarding status of his complaint or service as well as passport verification. He can also seek information and status about other facilities and services being provided by the
police department such as issuing NOC, passport, service, servant, arms license verification, etc. This station has one reception room where one can even seek guidance or help for writing his complaint or FIR.
Explaining in detail about the new high-tech police station, Mohinder Lal told the reporters that out of total 23 police stations in Gurgaon, seven have been made high-tech and modernized to suit the present day situations. In the first phase, police stations of old Gurgaon, DLF Sector 29, Sadar, City, Civil Lines, Sector 56 and Manesar have been high-tech and other remaining police stations would be modernized in two phases, taking other seven police stations in each phase.
Replying to a question about costs, he said that an amount of about Rs. 50 lakh was incurred on modernization of each police station. He said that the state government wanted the police to be citizen friendly and the modern high-tech police stations in Gurgaon present the citizen centric face of the police. The state government is providing sufficient funds for modernization of the force in
millennium city to check crimes here.
Close circuit televisions (CCTV) have been installed at different important points in each high-tech police station of Civil Lines for keeping a vigil not only on persons visiting the police station but on the police staff also for better and transparent services.
The station has a 'living area' where only authorized persons can enter and avail the facilities. Besides, this station has also better living facilities for police personnel. According to Mr Lal all the information pertaining to Gurgaon police or required from the police has been put on the website. He said that if a police personnel did not listen to any layman's complaint, he can send it through SMS on
the number 0124-100 or put it on the Gurgaon police website. Such complaints will automatically come into the knowledge of senior officers. He claimed that the complaints will be reviewed on daily basis by each level of officers.
