The 50th State Level Police 'Commemoration Day' was observed at Police Line, Panchkula on Wednesday morning. Haryana Director General of Police RS Dalal was the chief mourner on this occasion.
From September 1, 2008 to August 31, 2009, as many as 776 Police Personnel have been killed while fighting law breakers in different parts of the country. Rich tributes were paid to all these martyrs on this occasion.
Highlighting the importance of this day, Mr. Dalal said that on this day in the year 1959, 10 Central Reserve Police Force Personnel made supreme sacrifices at hot springs of Laddakh while resisting Chineese aggressors. Since then, all Indian police and para-military forces had been organising such annual commemoration parade on October 21 every year as a mark of respect to these martyrs and others laying down their lives for the cause of the mother land. The brave constables had sacrificed their lives so that the country and their people might be safe, he added.
All senior officers and officials posted at Haryana Police Headquarters Panchkula and Chandigarh also paid tributes to the all heroes of Indian police and para-military forces, who lay down their lives while maintaining law and order situations at various places in the country.
Mr.V.N.Rai, Director, Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban was the chief mourner at 'Commemoration Parade' organised at Madhuban. Mr.Sheel Mathur, Inspector General of Police paid tributes to the martyrs at Research and Training Centre, Bhondsi, Gurgaon. The Commissioner of Police, Gurgaon and Faridabad, Inspectors General of Police of all Police ranges and Superintendents of all District Police paid homage to the martyrs at their respective headquarters today.
The names of all 776 heroes of Indian Police and para-military forces killed on duty during the period from September 1, 2008 to August 31, 2009 were also read out at all places on this occasion.
