The academic session of newly established Central University in Mahendergarh district of Haryana will commence tomorrow. Haryana Chief MinisterBhupinder Singh Hooda will launch the classes in the B.Ed College of Narnaul. The University campus near Jant-Pali town in Mahendergarh district is 7-km from Mahendergarh and 34 km from Charkhi Dadri.
The State Government intends to make Haryana an educational hub and also speed up the developmental activities in rural areas alongwith the urban areas. The State Government is laying special stress on the development of backward areas. Keeping this in view, the new Central University has been established in Mahendergarh district, which will prove a milestone in the all round development of this backward area.
Mahendergarh district is a backward district educationally as well as economically. With the establishment of this Central University, not only the youth of the area will the benefits of the higher education, but this will also boost the economic activities of the area, thus increasing the employment opportunities.
The University has been established under the Central Act passed by the Parliament. State Government has made available about 500 acres of land for the University. Presently, the University has become operational from a temporary campus in Narnaul. The State Government has handed over a newly constructed building of the B.Ed. college, Narnaul, for this purpose. The hostel facility has been provided separately for the boys and girls admitted in the University. The University has already started admission in Ph.D and M.Phill courses. Students from different parts of the country has been admitted in the first batch. The University is to be fully funded by the Government of India.
The Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary of Education Department of Haryana Mr Rajan Gupta said that the University will be developed into a Centre of Excellence with all range of faculties and research facilities in the field of pure sciences, humanities, economics, computers, bio-sciences and engineering etc. Hundred of crores of rupees are likely to be spent on the development of the campus of the University, over the years.
Prof. Mool Chand Sharma will be the first Vice-Chancellor of the University He also belongs to this area. Prof. Sharma said that this Central University will be the first amongest all the newly set up 14 Central Universities to admit students under U.G.C. regulations of 2009 - thus moving in the direction of acquiring a truely
national character. This University will be a multi-faculty University . The inaugural session is starting with the classes in Political Science, English and Economics. The University will also have a school of language, linguistics, culture and heritage. Alongwith this, there will be classes in English language, skills development and communication skills for developing the personalitiy of the students.
The State Government aims at making Haryana the most developed State of the country. Realising that education is at the centre of all success and prosperity, the government is bringing changes at all the levels in education. Haryana is turning into a hub of education. Rajiv Gandhi Education City is being set up at Sonepat. Bhagat Phool Singh Women University has been established in Khanpur Kalan, which will also have a medical college for women. Many other big institutes are also coming up in Haryana, including Medical College in Mewat, Sainik School in Rewari and IIM at Rohtak. National Defence University will be established in Gurgaon. The level of Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences has been raised and it has been made University of Health Sciences.
The State Government wants to provide educational opportunities to the youth of Haryana as per the need of the day, so that facing all types of challenges they may become active partners in the process of national development.
