The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, said that emphasis would be laid on opening ‘Sanskar Kendras’ for education in the State and commercialization of education would not be tolerated. He added that under the Enterprises Promotion Policy-2015, four lakh youth would be given employment opportunities with investment of Rs one lakh crore.
The Chief Minister was addressing the gathering at the inaugural function of the three-day Zonal Youth Festival organized by Kurukshetra University at Gandhi Memorial National (GMN) College, Ambala Cantonment today. Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Mr. Anil Vij presided over the function.
The Chief Minister said that every youth has hidden talent and platforms like youth festivals enable them to showcase their talent. He said that even after 68 years of Independence, we are still unable to provide right direction to the youth, whose only goal is to obtain certificates as per the education system introduced by Lord Macaulay.
He said that the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi had started programmes like Skill India for skill development of youth and the Haryana Government was starting programmes on the same lines. He said that Haryana would complete 50 years of its inception and we all should pledge to unite under the banner of ‘Haryana Ek-Haryanvi Ek’. He said that under the present government, youth would be given jobs and employment opportunities on the basis of merit. He urged the youth to not be misled by false promises of employment.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vij said that Youth Policy would be framed within next two months under which youth would get jobs as per their requirement. Praising the working of Chief Minister, he said that new Sports Policy has been framed under the leadership of Mr. Manohar Lal. Under this policy, cash prizes amounting to Rs 56 crore were distributed among sports persons and 144 sports nurseries were being opened in the State. He said that the Sports Department was preparing a database of sports persons in which sports related activities of every players would be entered.
COMPENSATION APPOINTMENTS
The Cabinet has decided to provide compassionate appointments to Mrs. Raksha, married daughter of Martyr Mannu Ram, Inspector Border Security Force, Mr. Satish Kumar, younger brother of Martyr Pankaj Kumar and Mrs. Santosh Kumari, a widow, daughter-in-law of Martyr Randhir Singh.All these appointments required relaxation in policy which provides for employments in class III and IV jobs to one dependent of every Haryana domicile martyr of Armed Forces or Paramilitary Forces.Mr. Mannu Ram was killed in an unknown terrorist attack during Tripura assembly elections on February 26, 2003 whereas Martyr Pankaj Kumar was killed due to enemy’s heavy artillery shelling while performing operational duties at a post point on the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir on May 28, 2002. He was unmarried. Martyr Randhir Singh was killed in terrorist attack at Darjeeling on April 13, 1987.
EX-FACTO APPROVAL
The Cabinet gave ex-post facto approval to a proposal of Power Department for providing Government guarantee in favour of Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) for obtaining a term loan of Rs 1,085.84 crore for repayment of the outstanding term loan of the Power Finance Corporation (PFC) for Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant, Yamunanagar.
