Haryana Vishwakarma Skill University (HVSU) would soon launch a diploma course in sports management, which will be for the sports sector and by the sports sector, in true sense. The University would design a Dual Education Skilling Model with sports industry where the trainees would learn through an ideal mix of classroom and on-the-job-training.
This was announced by Vice Chancellor, HVSU, Mr. Raj Nehru, who was the Chief Guest in a meet of sports industry and sports management organizations organised by the University in collaboration with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), at Gurugram today. About 35 delegates from sports sector – training, management, media and marketing participated in the event. Padma Shri and Dronacharya awardee, Dr. Sunil Dabas was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.
Mr Raj Nehru said that the Haryana was known for its national and international achievements in the field of sports. He emphasised that sports play a significant role in holistic development of a person especially in the areas of decision-making, risk taking ability and team work. He said that there was a requirement to minimize gap between academia and sports by making sports sector equally attractive in terms of employment opportunities.
While referring to youth aspiration survey carried out by the HVSU last year, he said that sports were the first preference of the youth of the State. The University is initiating a sports management programme with an aim to train at least 100 students per year, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sunil Dabas said that Haryana has a lot of potential in sports sector, which can be channelised through skilling the youth of the State. The University and Industry can work together and ensure that sector attains self-sustainability and open up job avenues. The sports infrastructure in terms of stadium, sports training institutes, trained coaches, and equipment needs to be built up to attain parity with other Asian nations, he added.
Director, CII, Dr. Neeta Pradhan stressed on the need of imbibing sports as a way of life and informed that 20,000 schools under the CBSE in the country would have one-hour sports period for every student daily.

The website will provide all information related to women empowerment schemes of all departments.
Those present on the occasion included Haryana State Commission for Women, Chairperson, Ms Pratibha Suman, Vice-Chairperson, Ms Preeti Bhardwaj, Members, Ms Renu Bhatia, Ms Indu Yadav, Ms Namrata Gaur, Ms Sonia Aggarwal, and Ms Suman Bedi.
ADDITIONAL CHARGE: Mohammed Shayin, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Faridabad has been given additional charge of Chief Executive Officer, Smart City, Faridabad, with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, the State Government has also promoted six Personal Assistants of Haryana Civil Secretariat as Private Secretary. Those promoted included Manju Bala, Babli, Roshan Lal, Kamal Kishore, Vijay Kumar and Ram Niwas.
