May 13 declared public holiday

CHANDIGARH, MAY 3

The Haryana Government has notified May 13, 2018 as public holiday in the offices, educational and other institutes, Boards and Corporations situated in the jurisdiction of the areas of poll for the general election and bye elections of Municipalities.

        While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that the General election of 18 Municipal Committees namely Siwani, Bawani Khera, Loharu, Haily Mandi, Pataudi, Farrukh Nagar, Narnaund, Julana, Beri, Indri, Nilokheri, Kalayat, Ateli Mandi, Kanina, Taoru, Hathin, Kalanaur, Kharkhoda and bye election of ward number 20 of Municipal Council, Thanesar (Kurukshetra) and ward number 4 of Municipal Committee Assandh (Karnal) would be held on May 13, 2018. 

        He said that May 13, 2018 will also be observed as holiday under section 25 of Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 in the areas where the election will be held.

 RE-ENGAGING COMPUTER INSTRUCTORS: The Haryana Government has decided to re-engage the existing Computer Instructors and Computer Lab Attendants of government colleges in the State.

          While stating this here today, a spokesman of Higher Education Department said that the contract agreement would be applicable from May 1, 2018 to April 30, 2019.  The Computer Instructors and Computer Lab Attendants would also be paid the salary for the vacation period, he added.

APPLICATIONS FOR STATE AWARDS: The Haryana Government has invited applications from individuals and institutions under ‘State Awards for Outstanding Services in the Field of Prevention of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse’ Scheme for the year 2018-19 latest by 4 p.m. on May 30, 2018.

        While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that the first prize of Rs 50,000, second prize of Rs 30,000 and third prize of Rs 20,000 would be given.

          He said that the award categories included Best Drug De-Addiction Centre – providing services to alcoholics and drug users, Best Panchayati Raj Institution – working for prevention of alcoholism and substance abuse, Best Municipal Body– working for prevention of alcoholism and substance abuse, Best School – for outstanding work in awareness generation and prevention of alcoholism and substance abuse, Best College - for outstanding work in awareness generation and prevention of alcoholism and substance abuse, Best Curative Campaign, Best Awareness Campaign, Outstanding Individual Achievement – by a professional and Outstanding Individual Achievement – by a non-professional.

         The spokesman said that the interested individuals and Best Drug De-Addiction Centres, Best Panchayati Raj Institution, Best Municipal Body, Best School, Best College, Best Curative Campaign, Best Awareness Campaign may apply alongwith complete data as well as details and evidence of achievement to the District Social Welfare Office of their district alongwith all enclosures. The details of conditions can be obtained from District Social Welfare Office concerned, he added.
