Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal administered the ‘oath of office and secrecy’ to newly appointed Member of Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC), Mr Naresh Sardana here today.
Mr Manohar Lal congratulated Mr Sardana, his family members and well wishers for him being appointed as member of HERC.
It was informed that applications for filling up the post of Member, HERC were invited through advertisement in Newspaper in the month of January. The State Government had constituted a Selection Committee under the Chairmanship of Justice Mr Permod Kohli (Retd.) with Haryana Chief Secretary Mr D.S Dhesi and Chairperson, Central Electricity Authority Mr Prakash S. Mhaske as members of the selection committee. The appointment is based on the recommendations made by the Selection Committee in its meeting held on May 5, 2019.
The HERC was established in 1998 under Haryana Electricity Reform Act, 1998. It has completed 20 years of existence, regulating power sector performance and reforms.
Among those present on this occasion included Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr V. Umashankar, Advocate General Mr Baldev Raj Mahajan, Chairman-cum-Managing Director Power Utilities Mr Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor, Chairman HERC Mr Jagjeet Singh, Member HERC Mr Parvinder Singh and other senior officers of the power utilities.
GRANTING ADVANCE TO DCs: TO Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal has announced that the State Government will grant an advance up to Rs one crore to each Deputy Commissioner of the state. This advance would be utilised to meet out the emergent requirement of payment of wages, honorarium etc to the employees engaged on contract basis under centrally and state sponsored schemes in case the departments do not receive funds or grants on time from the central or state government for one reason or other.
The funds would be released from Contingency Funds of the state.
NASEEM AHMED NOMINATED: Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Mr Kanwar Pal has nominated Mr Naseem Ahmed, MLA to serve on the Committee on Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions as Special Invitee with effect from May 28,2019 for the remaining period of the year 2019-20.
