KCGC celebrates Sri Guru Gobind Singh’s 358th `Gurpurab’

Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) today celebrated 358th `Gurpurab’ of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru and founder of Khalsa Panth at Khalsa College campus with religious fervor and devotion. As per the tradition, the `Gurpurab’ witnessed Bhog of Sri Akhand Path, Kirtan and later lectures on teachings and philosophy of the revered Guru.
The meticulous Kirtan recitals were performed by the students of Gurmat Study Centre who sang hymns from Gurbani and verses in the praise of the Guru. The Gurdwara complex was decorated tastefully with buntings and flowers. The teachers, students and staff members took part in the `Ardas’ (prayers) following the ceremony.
Khalsa University (KU) Pro-Chancellor and KCGC honorary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina who was present amongst the devotees gave the message to the youth to follow the philosophy of the Guru, which he said was most relevant in the present times. He along with KU VC Dr. Mehal Singh and Khalsa College Acting Principal Dr.AK Kahlon bestowed Siropas upon the students performing Kirtan.
Dr. Inderjit Singh Gagoani, a prominent historian gave a detailed account of the life and teachings of the Guru who stood for righteousness, peace, brotherhood and communal harmony. KCGC Joint Secretaries including Ajmer Singh Heir, Lakhwinder Singh Dhillon, Rajbir Singh, Gurpreet Singh Gill and Members Sarbjit Singh Hoshiar Nagar, KU Deans, Principles of barious Khalsa institutions were present.
