Rajat Seth  and  Kamlesh Khanna win Panchkula Golf Club Par3 Masters

PANCHKULA, JAN 5

Rajat Seth won the title in the men's category  while GC Sharma got runner-up position in  the  first Pitch & Putt golf tournament Par3 Masters  at  Panchkula Golf Club here today.. Kamlesh Khanna emerged winner in the women's category and   Shalini Sheron was runner=up.

The cold and misty morning  was filled with excitement and anticipation as it marked the debut of a new chapter in Indian Golf: the Pitch and Putt format. This exciting innovation aims to make the sport more accessible to a larger audience across India, while also positioning the country strongly on the global Golf map.

The inaugural Panchkula Golf Club Par3 Masters kicked off with a bang, attracting a strong field of 178 golfers, including club members and special invitees. Despite the foggy and chilly 8-degree temperatures, the first group of 84 participants showed no hesitation as they took on this novel format, limited to just three clubs – including a putter – with all holes set at Par 3.

As the second set of players teed off, the temperature eased a little and the sun god smiled. The energy on the course remained high, making it the perfect setting for the day's event. The entire 18-hole course was realigned to accommodate this dynamic format, and the response from participants was overwhelmingly positive.

Col. Dhillon, General Manager of the Panchkula Golf Club, was enthusiastic about the event. “As a golfer and golf administrator, this was an amazing opportunity. I was confident that the members would love this exciting new format, and the fact that the slots filled in less than 4 hours is a testament to the appeal of the Pitch and Putt. We are proud to be the first golf club to introduce this format on such a scale, and we’re thrilled to see it succeed,” he said.

Mr. Munish Arora, Founder of Can and Able Entertainment, was equally excited about the launch of the new format. “As a golfer for almost two decades, we’ve organized over 50 golfing events, but we always wanted to push the envelope and take the sport to a wider audience. The creation of Par3 – Pitch and Putt is the result of this vision. We are excited to get this format to other parts of the country soon” he said.

Representing GameChangerZ, Dilip Jayaram (DJ) and Mahesh Ranka emphasized the potential of the new format. “Our core focus is to create innovative sports IPs, and Pitch and Putt has immense potential to broaden the appeal of golf, creating a sustainable and widely embraced sports property,” said Jayaram and Ranka.

The tournament also saw a professional golfer turned trainer, Tavleen Batra, serve as the tournament referee, ensuring fair play and smooth execution throughout the event.

The players were tested to their limits on a course where each hole ranged between 55 and 105 yards. The unique challenges posed by the Pitch and Putt format, with its strategic use of limited clubs, made it a true test of skill and precision.

In the evening, a grand prize-giving ceremony rewarded the winners and runners-up in both the Men's and Women's categories. Winner in Men category was Rajat Seth and runner up GC Sharma. Winner in Women category was Kamlesh Khanna and runner up Shalini Sheron. Additionally, awards for Closest to the Pin was won by T P Singh, followed by an evening of fantastic entertainment.

The Panchkula Golf Club Par3 Masters marks the beginning of a long journey for the Pitch and Putt format in India, with more tournaments planned across the country. This exciting new format promises to make golf more accessible, more thrilling, and more popular than ever before.
