Union Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to grant another installment of dearness relief to various categories of freedom fighters and their eligible dependents under the Swatantrata Sainik Samman Pension Scheme, 1980 at a rate of 17 per cent with effect from August 1, 2009.
A spokesman of Haryana Government said that a written communication to this effect has been received from Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
He said that the total dearness relief payable to various categories of freedom fighters and their eligible dependents would be 96 per cent. He said that the dearness relief at a rate of 96 per cent of the basic monthly pension payable with effect from August 1, 2009 for the category of Ex-Andaman Political Prisoners would be Rs.7,037. It would be Rs.6,557 for the category of freedom fighters who have suffered outside British India(other than INA) and Rs.6,077 for other freedom fighters.
He said that for widow or widower of the above mentioned catgories of freedom fighters, the entitlement would be the same as of the respective deceased freedom fighter. In case of unmarried or unemployed daughters, subject to a maximum of three such daughters at a time, it would be Rs.1,440 each. In case of mother and father, it would be Rs. 960 each, he added.
