The Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Department has invited nominations for National Youth Awards 2009-10.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Department said that National Youth Awards were given at national level to 25 outstanding youths who have rendered notable service in social and cultural fields. National Youth Awards was also given to an outstanding voluntary organisation which had been involved in social service for the last three years.
Under individual category, a cash amount of Rs 20,000, a medal and a scroll was given to each selected youth and a sum of Rs one lakh, a trophy and a scroll was given to the selected outstanding voluntary organisation. National Youth Awards were given in the National Youth Festival organised on January 12 every year to mark birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, he added.
The spokesman said that all the District Sports and Youth Affairs Officers had been asked to send two proposals for National Youth Awards, one for individual category and one for voluntary organisation from their district. The nominations along with the recommendations of district level committee should reach the Directorate by July 30, 2010 so that these could be forwarded to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India by September 10, 2010.
