CHANDIGARH, MARCH 15
Dr. M. S. Malik, IPS(Rtd.) President Jat Sabha Chandigarh and former Director General of Police, Haryana, has called upon the Haryana government to issue a notification for making the provision of reservation for Jats in Haryana in all government jobs, public sector undertakings and educational institutions on the same line as that was issued by the then Chief Minister Hukam Singh in 1990-91 on the basis of recommendations of Mr. Justice Gurnam Singh Commission report.
Dr Malik also criticized the then Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal for cancelling the notification pertaining to reservation for jats in government service etc. after filling an affidavit before Hon’ble Apex Court in the pending litigation that time.
Above all, Dr. Malik also appreciated and thanked Ms. Mayawati, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for supporting the demand of Jats for 25% reservation under OBC category. Thus Dr. Malik again urged the Haryana Chief Minister to re-issue 1990-91 notification for reservation of Jats in the state services on the pattern of Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan and then he should take up the case with Government of India for inclusion of Jats in the list of OBC under 27% quota in central services.
Similarly, he has also called upon all political parties of Haryana and Punjab to raise this question in the ongoing Assembly sessions so as to persuade both the state governments to take the issue of notification for reservation of Jats at state level initially.
At the same time, he also called upon the concerned governments i.e. Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh for entering a dialogue with agitating Jats and other leaders for finding out an amicable solution of the real problems in the interest of maintenance of peace, order and communal harmony. He also appealed to the Jat Aarkshan Sanghrash Samiti and the agitating Jats to maintain peace and also to avoid inconvenience to the general public by following Gandhian approach to the present ongoing agitation.
