James Medicine University, Virginia,
America has invited four students of Bio-technology Department
of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology, Murthal to
attend a workshop.
While
stating this today, a spokesman of the University said that about Rs one crore
have been spent on the modernization of the laboratories of Bio-Technology
Department so as to provide international level facilities to the researchers
here. Mainly, the laboratories of Bio-informatics, genetic technology, plant
bio-technology, micro-biology, molecular biology and enzyme bio-technology had
been modernized.
He said that
the laboratories of the Department were competent enough to carry out any
international level experiment. Now, the researchers of the university could
conduct research work with foreign universities on various subjects. He said
that an agreement had been signed with Finland for research and analysis. In
the year 2011, ten students of Malaysia participated in the ten-week workshop
held in the university. During the workshop, the student representatives from
Malaysia carried out research on various subjects.
He said
that in the year 2012 American Society for Micro-biology sent Prof. Louise
Temple for two weeks workshop in the university. As many as 34 researchers from
Bio-technology Department and various other universities of the state
participated in this workshop. The expenditure of this workshop was borne
jointly by the university and American Society.
He said
that 15 Ph.D. students, 40 M.Tech. and 200 B.Tech. students were engaged in the
research work on various subjects. He
said that in this year, a representative of five students from Malaysia would
participate in the workshop to be organized by the university. This would
enable the researchers of the university share their research experiences with
the foreign researches.
