Haryana to recruit 9870 JBT teachers through STRB

CHANDIGARH, MAY 14

Haryana Education Minister Geeta Bhukkal today said that 9,870 JBT teachers will be recruited through State Teachers Recruitment Board (STRB).

          While stating this here today, the Education Minister said that a proposal in this regard was being sent to the Board. As many as 8401 JBT teachers had already been recruited to meet the shortage of teachers during year 2011 and 544 posts of teachers of Urdu language had already been advertised.

She said that the Government had earmarked a sum of over Rs.4889 crore for elementary education during the current financial year. The State Government was committed to develop Haryana as an education hub and several steps were being taken by the Government, he added.

          The Minister said that under Sarv Shiksha Abhiyaan, the award money of those panchayats who have ensured admission of all girls in the age group between six and 14 years into schools had been increased from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. one lakh. During the tenure of present government, 544 branches of  primary schools had been upgraded to  primary schools and 267 primary schools to middle schools. As per the provisions of RTE Act, teacher student ratio from class I to V had been fixed at 1:30 and from VI to VIII classes  at 1:35. Similarly, the ratio of teacher student from IX to XII classes had been made 1:40 as per the provisions of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyaan.

          Giving details about money spent for maintenance of primary schools, Mrs. Bhukkal said that over Rs.2200crore had been incurred so far since the present government assumed office in year 2005. She said that Rs. nine crore had been earmarked for providing free text books and work books to students studying from class I to VIII during current financial year.

          Mrs. Bhukkal said that the Government had exempted the condition of submitting birth certificate for admission in government schools. With a view to increase enrollment in primary schools, 2620 anganwadi centres had been shifted to primary schools upto March 31, 2012. As many as 21,763 students had been given bicycles  and the beneficiaries included the students belonging to Scheduled Castes and the girls of other categories who had taken  admission in class VI in various schools upto March 31, 2012 to facilitate them.
