Jaggu was an able administrator: Inderjit Bindra

CHANDIGARH, SEPT 21

Elaborating on his tweet earlier today, former BCCI President and principal advisor to ICC, who is traveling overseas, said: "I remember today my long innings with Jagmohan Dalmiya from 1980-1996 when we worked together to lay the solid foundations of Indian cricket and built it into a global powerhouse.! In 1984 under the leadership of NKP Salve we moved the World Cup out of England giving South Asian cricket fans the excitement and glory of the 1987 Reliance World Cup. We succeeded in eliminating the English and Australian stranglehold on global cricket and made the ICC a truly representative and democratic global polity.
Those were also the days when we earnestly laid the foundations of making Indian cricket the commercial force it is today by breaking the monopoly of Doordarshan as the sole broadcaster of Indian cricket. This was not as easy as it looks today. It took patience, perseverance and mental strength to fight the monopoly all the way up to the Supreme Court of India.
The Court issued a landmark judgement in 1994 which catalyzed the satellite broadcasting industry in India. Indian cricket was further strengthened in 1994 when we successfully won the right to host the second World Cup in the subcontinent. The 1996 World Cup introduced many elements of global marketing to Indian cricket. As such it set the stage for what is a given in this day and age of Indian cricket.
Jaggu's passion, energy and dedication was instrumental in achieving this all. He was an able cricket administrator and I, along with millions of cricket lovers around the world, salute his commitment and dedication to the game."
Mr. M.P. Pandove Honorary Secretary General, PCA condoled the sad and sudden demise of . Jagmohan Dalmiya, President, BCCI in Kolkata yesterday. Mr. Pandove fondly recalled his long association with Mr. Dalmiya who was fondly called "Jaggu Dada".

He further asserted that Mr. Dalmiya would be remember for the financial turnaround in the BCCI. He stated that the members of the Punjab Cricket Association join him in conveying their heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Dalmiya.
"On behalf of Mr. Anurag Thakur and the entire HPCA family, we express our heartfelt condolences on the sudden demise of BCCI President Mr Jagmohan Dalmiya .
Mr Thakur cherished a long association with Mr Dalmiya. Back in 2000, when Mr Thakur took over as President HPCA, Mr Dalmiya who was president BCCI was instrumental in getting things done to help HPCA in achieving greater heights," said Mohit Sood of HPCA.
This grave loss will remain in our hearts for years to come. We will keep Mr Dalmiya alive in our memories and always remember him for his unmatched contribution in the world of cricket as it was under his guidance at the helm that transformed the BCCI into the most powerful cricketing boards in the world and also saw the trasformation of the indian cricket team into a cricketing powerhouse.

It will be producing about 2 MW electricity. Mr. Modi said that besides laying railway tracks, the DMRC is also contributing in the green revolution as the metro stations are green and environment friendly. With this facility,
While describing his association with the Haryana State, the Prime Minister said that Haryana was his ‘second home’ as he had spent most of time in Haryana after Gujarat. It is the affection of people of Haryana which attract him to visit the state repeatedly. He assured to repay with interest for the affection shown to him by way of ushering development here. He also mentioned that Faridabad is not new to him and he has been travelling in the streets of this city on scooter. He said that Faridabad is ninth industrial estate of Asia and now people from various parts of the country were residing here which has made this city look like ‘mini India’. The development of this city needed to be geared up and the commissioning of metro gives boost to development.

Mr. Modi said that name of Faridabad has figured into the list of Smart cities. But this is entry into the race and the people of this city would have to resolve to fulfill all the parameters required for a smart city. He said this is a difficult task to achieve and people will have to accept the challenge.

Amidst thunderous applause, the Prime Minister patted the back of Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal and his entire team for making the ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ campaign a great success and added that earlier Haryana got a bad name for female foeticide but now with the efforts of Chief Minister, the State is known for saving the girl child.
