Haryana State Council for Science and Technology has invited applications for the Promotion of Science Education (POSE) Scholarship Scheme for students of under-graduate and post-graduate science courses in the State for the year 2015-16. Applications would be accepted till 5PM on October 16, 2015.
Giving this information, a spokesman of the Haryana Department of Science and Technology said here today that the scholarship scheme had been started by the Haryana Government in order to encourage meritorious students to take up science education and to support them for continuation of their science education up to higher level. Under-graduate B.Sc. (General) and post-graduate students opting for basic science subjects, namely Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics and Geology, can apply for scholarship under this scheme.
Applications are invited from first-year students of B.Sc. General (Medical and Non-medical) enrolled in colleges and universities located within Haryana. While B.Sc. (Non-medical) students must have chosen any two subjects out of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Geology, B.Sc. (Medical) students must have chosen any two subjects out of Botany, Zoology, Chemistry and Geology. To be eligible for the scholarship, these students must have obtained minimum 85 per cent marks or equivalent grade in Class 10 plus two, he said.
The spokesman added that the selected under-graduate students would get scholarship amounting to Rs 4,000 per month, plus contingency stipend of Rs 4,000 once a year.
Similarly, students enrolled in M.Sc. (Previous) with any one of the basic science subjects out of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology and Geology in the colleges and universities in Haryana can apply for scholarship. Only the students who have obtained minimum 75 per cent marks or equivalent grade in B.Sc. (or B.A. in case of M.Sc. Mathematics) would be eligible. The selected students would get Rs 6,000 per month, apart from a contingency stipend of Rs 5,000 once a year.
