Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal, said that the Kurukshetra Mahotsava - Gita Jayanti Samaroh would be celebrated at international level in Kurukshetra next year onwards. He added that Gita Jayanti holds particular significance for Haryana in the same way that Pongal is an important festival of Tamil Nadu, Chhat Puja in Bihar and Baisakhi and Gurpurab in Punjab. Keeping this in view, the Haryana Government has decided to celebrate the Mahotsava on a grander scale, he added.
The Chief Minister was addressing the gathering during the District-level Gita Jayanti Samaroh in Ambala today.
He said that people should work selflessly for the society without expecting anything in return and should take inspiration from lessons of the Gita. He said that value-based education is vital for developing children as good human beings who would work for the society. As getting a degree is not sufficient for their all-round development, the Haryana Government has decided to include shlokas of the Gita in the school syllabus.
He also inaugurated the exhibition near old Civil Hospital and said that such exhibitions allow people to gain information and understand the Government’s policies and programmes launched for their benefit.
Later, the Chief Minister offered prayers at the local Naurangia Talab which holds religious and historical importance and performed ‘Deep Daan’. He said that the State Government has made available a sum of Rs 3.50 crore for the renovation of Naurangia Talab.
Speaking on the occasion, the Health Minister, Mr. Anil Vij, thanked the Chief Minister for gracing the Samaroh. He added that Gita is the essence of life and gives the message of public service without any self interest.
Others present on the occasion included Minister of State for Mines and Geology, Mr. Nayab Singh Saini, MP, Mr. Rattan Lal Kataria, MLAs, Mr. Aseem Goyal and Mrs. Santosh Chauhan Sarwan and Swami Gyananand.
YAGYA FOR SELF-PURIFICATION
Chandigarh, December 20 – Haryana Governor, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, said that ‘yagya’ is the best process for self-purification.
The Governor was addressing the gathering after performing yajana in ‘5151 Kundiya Jan Chetna Mahayagya’ at Theme Park in Kurukshetra today. This Mahayagya was organised as a part of the State-level Kurukshetra Mahotsava – Gita Jayanti Samaroh.
Union Defence Minister, Rao Inderjit Singh and Haryana Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Krishan Kumar Bedi also participated in the Mahayagya.
