Grant to cooperative milk producers increased

CHANDIGARH, MAY 16
tHE Haryana Government has increased the grant being given to the cooperative milk producers in the State from Rs four per litre to Rs five per litre under the Mukhya Mantri Dugdh Utpadak Protsahan Yojna. A budget provision of Rs 35.40 crore has been made under the scheme for the period between April 1 and September 30, 2017
          While giving this information here today, a spokesman of Dairy Development Cooperative Federation said that a grant of Rs 31.17 crore had already been provided between April 1 and September 30, 2016.
          He said that the State Government has also implemented a scheme to provide Kanyadan of Rs 1100 on the marriage of daughter of milk producer members of milk cooperative societies. About Rs 10.66 lakh had been distributed among the beneficiaries upto March 31, 2017. Apart from this, a scholarship scheme has been implemented for the children of milk producers of milk cooperative societies. Under this scheme, lump sum amount of Rs 2100 and Rs 5100 respectively were being given to the children getting more than 80 per cent marks in class tenth and 10 plus two examinations. Scholarships amounting to Rs 39 lakh have been given away to the eligible students upto March 31, 2017. 
          The spokesman said that a group personal accident insurance scheme has also been implemented for the milk producers of milk cooperative societies in the State. Unregistered members of such milk societies are also being included under this insurance scheme. Eighteen insurance claims have so far been disposed off by the insurance company, he added. 
          He said that with a view to promote the milk of indigenous cows in the State, the Haryana Dairy or Milk Unions have started the collection, processing and marketing of milk and related products at Milk Plant, Kurukshetra. About 2100 litre milk per day is being supplied in the market by Milk Plant, Kurukshetra.  He said that under the Swarana Jayanti Bal Dugdh Yojna, packings of 500 gms and 1000 gms of sweet skimmed milk in five different tastes like rose, cardamom, chocolate, vanilla and butterscotch would be made available to Elementary Education Department as per the requirement for students. Apart from this, about 17 lakh children in the primary schools of the State would be provided with 200 millilitre of milk for minimum 236 or maximum 280 days in a year.
