Haryana Govt wins Central Board of Irrigation and Power Award

Adding yet another to its bulging kitty, the Haryana Government has won the Central Board of Irrigation and Power Award for 2018 for optimum and efficient utilization of water resources.  
          The award will be presented by Mr Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Water Resources and Clean Ganga Mission, in New Delhi, tomorrow. Dr. Satbir Singh Kadian, Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Water Resources Department, Haryana, will receive the award on behalf of the Haryana Government. 
      Stating this here today, an official spokesman said the award acknowledged the extraordinary efforts made by the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, who also holds the portfolio of Irrigation, and the Irrigation Department, which had borne fruits. The state made history in carrying water to the villages right up to the Rajasthan border, after a span of more than 25 years. 
    The vast network of canals built by Mr Bansi Lal, former Chief Minister, was on the verge of extinction when Mr Manohar Lal took the reins and turned the whole system around. The persistent efforts made by the present government since 2014 have resulted in the JNL Feeder carrying over 150 per cent water as compared to 2014; MGC carrying over 200 per cent water compared to 2014; and JLN Canal Carrier carrying 300 per cent as compared to 2014, the spokesman added.
ADDITIONAL CHARGE: Anju Chaudhry, ADC-cum-CEO, DRDA, Palwal, and Secretary, RTA, Palwal has been given additional charge of ADC-cum-CEO, DRDA, Nuh, and Secretary, RTA, Nuh, during the leave period of Jabir Singh Arya, with immediate effect.
