The Haryana Government has decided to open new government women colleges at 29 different locations in the State during this year. With this, Haryana would become the State to have such colleges at a distance of every 20 kilometers. Besides, science stream have been made mandatory in the all the new colleges being set up in the State to promote science subject among the students.
This was disclosed by Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal while speaking as a Chief Guest at the ‘Meet the CM’ programme organized on the occasion of ‘National Youth Day’ to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda in Panchkula near here today. The Chief Minister said that state government is making concerted efforts to promote qualitative education in the State. A scheme has been prepared to open Women College within a radius of every 20 kilometers in the State so that our daughters need not travel far to get education. In this series, the State Government has opened new such colleges except at 29 places where it would be opened this year.
He said that directions have been issued that while opening new colleges or upgrading the existing ones, science stream should be included as this would provide an opportunity to the village students to pursue career in science. He said that with a view to improve the reasoning ability of students, it has also been decided to set up maths laboratory at block level.
While congratulating the students on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the Chief Minister urged them to take inspiration from his life and follow the path shown by him so as to succeed in their chosen field. He said that even Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi also called upon the people to adopt the high ideals of Swami Vivekanand in their lives. Leaders of none of the other political parties had made such a call to the people instead they always worked for their own development and those of their near and dear ones. After 70 years of independence a wind of change is being blowing in the country under the dynamic leadership of Mr Modi, he added.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government is working with the mantra of WIFY (Women, Infrastructure and Industry, Farmers and Youth) adding that various steps have been taken for the empowerment of women, strengthening of infrastructure and industry, welfare of farmers and youth. Describing India as a country of youth, he said that people upto 35 years of age constitute the 65 per cent of the total population of the country.
He said that during a meeting with Union External Affairs Minister, Mrs Sushama Swaraj at New Delhi recently, he has requested her to open an office of Union Ministry in Haryana so as to provide guidance to the youth intended to go abroad as per their skill and experience. Land for the setting up of this office would be made available by the State Government, he added.
He said that in order to ensure the skill development of the youth so as to make them employable, the State Government has set up a University of Skill Development in Palwal district Faridabad which is the first University of its kind in the country. During the Global Investor Summit organized at Gurugram, 450 MOUs were signed. Work has been started on 150 MOUs which have provided job opportunities to 1.10 lakh youth. The state government has a set a target to provide job to five lakh youth. Apart from this, 22 lakh new small and big industrial units have been set up in the State, he added.Among those present on this occasion included MLAs namely Mr Gian Chand Gupta and Mrs Latika Sharma, Chairman, Haryana Housing Board Mr Jawahar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula Mrs Gauri Parashar Joshi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr Mukul Kumar and large number of students.
