CHANDIGARH, SEPT 4
In Haryana, a Biodiversity Park will be constructed on 300 acre area, at the cost of Rs 32 crore for the conservation of Flora and Fauna, which are on the verge of extinction. This park will be constructed in Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar.
This was approved in the 4th meeting of the State Level Steering Committee of Environment and Climate Change Department which was held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary, Mr D. S. Dhesi, here today.
The construction of this project, would be implemented by Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar and Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes, Hisar. Under this project, target has been fixed to increase the number of species of migrant birds from 7 to 15, local birds from 80 to 100, aquatic plants from 14 to 30, aquatic animals from 20 to 55. Besides this, the species of wild animals, agriculture crops, and fruit trees would be conserved.
The main objective of this project is to create ecological niche and unique ecological models for conservation of endangered and threatened flora and fauna. It aims to provide ideal habitats for migratory and indigenous birds along with aquatic flora and fauna. Other objectives are creation and development of pasture land and different ecosystems with unique food chains with special emphasis on buffalo and other threatened livestock biodiversity and to promote awareness on conservation of nature and environment and promote eco tourism with aesthetic, environmental and educational values.
For determined contribution in environment conservation and to amend the work plan of climate change, eight working groups have been approved, which included Sustainable Agriculture, Water Resources, Forest and Environment including Biodiversity, Energy, Sustainable Habitat, Knowledge Management and Skill Development, Industry and Mountain Ecology.
Those present included Additional Chief Secretary, New and Renewable Energy, Mr P.K. Mahapatra, Additional Chief Secretary, Transport, Mr Dhanpat Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Tourism, Mr Vijai Vardhan, Additional Chief Secretary, Power, Mr P.K. Das, Additional Chief Secretary, Environment Department and Climate Change, Mr Devender Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Public Health Engineering, Mr Rajiv Arora, Principal Secretary, Finance and Planning Departments, Mr T.V.S.N Prasad and other senior officers.
ROAD CONSTRUCTED: Haryana Public Works Minister Rao Narbir Singh has fulfilled about 30 years long pending demand of people of village Hamirpur of district Gurugram, by connecting it with road. Since country’s Independence, the village was not connected to any road from any side.
While giving this information, a official spokesman said that district Gurugram is though considered as the leading district of Haryana but even after 70 years of independence, village Hamirpur was one such village which was not connected to road from any side.
This village has about 100 houses and it falls under Wazirpur Panchayat. The people of this village used to go to their village through wazirpur where road was constructed only till the railway line and after which un-mettled road of about half km till Hamirpur. Similarly, the route to village Hamirpur from village Khentawas was of 1.75 km, which was un-mettled and Hamirpur is at .75 km from village Gadhi.
