Gita Mahotsav concludes in Mauritius

 CHANDIGARH, FEB 15
The International Gita Mahotsav being organized at Port Louis, Mauritius concluded amidst extremely spiritual atmosphere with a resolve that both India and Mauritius will popularise and spread the message of  Bhagwad Gita in the entire world. Scores of devotees present on this occasion took this pledge by raising their hand and reciting ‘Om’.
            Acting President of Mauritius, Mr Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory, Minister Mentor of Mauritius Mr. Anerood Jugnauth,   Minister of Arts and Culture Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun, Haryana Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal, saints, social, religious and other organizations participated in this programme.
            Speaking on this occasion, Minister Mentor of Mauritius Mr. Anerood Jugnauth expressed faith that the cultural relations between India and Mauritius would be further strengthened in the coming generations. He said that last year they got an opportunity to hold Hindi Sammelan and this year we are fortunate enough to organize first International Gita Mahotsav outside India. He also thrown light on the significance of Gita and expressed gratitude to the State Government, Kurukshetra Development Board, Gio Gita, India-Mauritius Trade and Culture Forum and all other organizations for the successful organization of this event.
            Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal assured the people of Mauritius that Haryana would continue giving all out support and cooperation for the organization of International Gita Mahotsav here. We called those cities in India as mini India in which people of different states resides but he is getting to see a mini India outside India as the people living here are connected with maximum states of India.
            He said that Gita is a detailed and comprehensive scripture and is solution to all problems. Many problems-one solution and that is Gita, he said adding that similarly many question-one answer and that is Gita. 
            Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj said that this Gita Mahotsav in Mauritius would not  be the last such programme but it would form the base of further promoting it in other countries. He said that this programme is being concluded with the Aarti of holy Ganga and Gita as the people of Mauritius has immense faith in Ganga and Gita. It has been the tradition of people coming here from India that they after getting Gangajal (holy water of Ganga) from India immersed the same in the holy Ganga Talab of Mauritius.
            Minister of Arts and Culture of Mauritius Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun also expressed their views in the concluding function. On this occasion, the Sanskrit Speaking Union of Mauritius presented Shri Krishna Bhakti Geet while, Mauritius-Tamil Culture Centre presented Krishna Varnan Nritaya. The artists of NIFA and that of Mauritius presented essence of Gita.
            Those present on this occasion included High Commissioner of India in Mauritius Mr Tanmaya Lal, Director General of Information, Public Relations and Languages Department Mr Sameer Pal Srow, Member Secretary of Kurukshetra Development Board Mr Vijay Singh Dahiya and other dignitaries.
HARYANA CM PLANTS SAPLING:
Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal today planted a sapling in the historical Botanical Garden of Port Louis in Mauritius as a symbol of friendship between India and Mauritius. There is a tradition of plantation in this garden by personalities coming here from abroad as part of their honour and memory. The Botanical Garden has trees of 800 different species.
Mr Manohar Lal planted the sapling of long-lived fungam tree and said that it would keep reminding the emotional attachment between India and Mauritius for long.
“My memories will always remain here in the form of sapling planted in this garden”, he said. Today, the whole world is making efforts to keep the environment clean and it is highly effective to plant maximum trees in this direction. He said that the Haryana Government has given major boost to plantation in the State. The schools students were encouraged for plantation and they planted 26 lakh saplings in the State. Besides plantation, they also ensure their upkeep for three years, he added. He said that the students got   their photo clicked with the plants after every six month for which they are given Rs 50 as incentive.
The Chief Minister also wrote his remarks in the visitor book of Botanical Garden. Acting President of Mauritius, Mr Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory and Minister of Arts and Culture Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun and other dignitaries were also present on this occasion.
Later, the Chief Minister visited the field of sugarcane, the main crop of Mauritius and inquired about the latest technique for increasing sugarcane yield.  He also visited museum L'Aventure du Sucre and got information about the history of sugarcane industry of Mauritius and its contribution in the development of Mauritius. ‘
