Haryana Agriculture Minister O P Dhankar said that the first Haryana Kisan Ratna award will be given to Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University. The President, Mr Ram Nath Kovind will confer this award to the University during the closing ceremony of 4th Agri Summit on February 17 in Gannaur, Sonipat .
He told that Haryana Agricultural University has done a great job in the field of agricultural revolution in Haryana and the committee constituted for the award has taken this decision. Under this award
Rs five lakh and a citation will be given. This award has been instituted by the State Government for farmers and individuals, institutes and scientists working in the area of agriculture and farmers' welfare as a Lifetime Achievement award.
Mr Dhakhar said that the State Government has decided to confer Haryana Kirshi Ratna award for doing outstanding work in 25 different crops including paddy, millet, fish farming, production and others. Harvindra was awarded on Feb 16 for improving the quality of potato seeds for horticulture. Rs One lakh and a citation is being given as a reward.
