The Haryana Governor, Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki, and the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, celebrated Raksha Bandhan with girl students and teachers at simple but impressive ceremonies here today. This auspicious occasion symbolizes the pious relationship between brother and sister, they said.

Girls from various organizations and institutions tied rakhi on the wrist of Prof Solanki and prayed for his good health and long life. The Governor thanked the girls and distributed gifts to them. “Your presence has filled the Haryana Raj Bhawan with joy and happiness and I would remember this day for long”, he added.
Addressing about 50 girls students and more than a dozen teachers of ten schools of Panchkula at his residence here, the Chief Minister said apart from tying rakhi on the wrists of their brothers on this auspicious occasion and praying for their long life, the girls should also contribute to the security of the nation.
Girls should help generate awareness in the society that they do not lag behind in any sphere. The state government has ensured that girls get a distinct place in the society and also get due respect.
On this occasion, the girl students and teachers tied Rakhi on the wrist of Mr Manohar Lal and prayed for his good health and prosperity of the state. The Chief Minister gave them blessings and also distributed sweets and gifts.
