Haryana Pollution Board to set up 19 CAAQM stations

CHANDIGARH, AUG 1
Haryana State Pollution Control Board has decided to set up 19 Continuous Online Ambient Air Quality Monitoring (CAAQM) Stations at district headquarters in the state to measure the level of pollution in the ambient air.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Board said that these CAAQM stations would be set up at Panipat, Sonipat, Rewari (Dharuhera), Bahadurgarh, Kaithal, Karnal, Yamuna Nagar, Gurugram (Manesar), Faridabad (Sec- 55 and 56), Ambala, Bhiwani, Fatehabad, Hisar, Jind, Kurukshetra, Mahendergarh, Mewat, Palwal and Sirsa.
He said that Board has already installed four CAAQM stations at Faridabad, Gurugram, Rohtak and Panchkula for measuring the level of pollution in the ambient air. The data of ambient air quality of these towns are being analyzed through server at the Head Office of the Board and this data is also provided to the Central Pollution Control Board.
He said that Board is constantly monitoring and persuading industries for installation of Air Pollution Control Devices (APCD) for the control of air pollution emitted by the industries. No air polluting industry is allowed to operate without APCD and consent to operate is granted to these industries only after adequate installation of pollution control measures. As a result of this, mostly all air polluting industries have installed APCD.  All new industries are directed to install APCD. Installation of APCD would ensure improvement in quality of ambient air in the State.
