Extending New Year gift to police personnel, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal on Sunday has announced a slew of incentives for their welfare including enhancing the matching grant being given by the government for welfare of police personal from existing Rs 4 crore to Rs 6 crore.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating Mega Police Housing Complex at Faridabad, the Chief Minister announced to provide uniform allowance of Rs 4000 to NGOs including ASIs, SIs and Inspectors and Rs 3000 to the ranks of Constable and Head Constables. He also made public the decision formation of Callers User Group (CUG) in Police Department to provide mobile facility to all police officials. CUG number will be shared with all ranks and department will pay the bill. He also announced that Exempee Sub-Inspector (ESI) would be promoted in the rank of Honorary Inspector before six month of retirement.
He also announced hike in ration money of police personnel from Rs 600 to Rs 1000 per month, arrangement of crèche in police offices for care of babies and young children of women police personnel and facility of changing room for them in police offices wherever required. In addition, police personnel can get HRA upto March 31, either of new places of posting or existing, in case of transfer in middle of the year.
He also announced to provide additional fund of Rs 1050 crore to Police Housing Corporation through HUDCO for construction of more houses. With this, police housing satisfaction level would increase further. Earlier, financial assistance Rs 550 crore was provided to the Corporation by which construction of 3060 houses in various districts is under progress at different levels.
Mr Manohar Lal said that various steps have been taken to strengthen the infrastructure in the Police Department as well as to boost the morale of policemen.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister dedicated 384 houses built at a cost of around Rs 65 crore to police personnel. He also advised them to improve their working style and behavior further and help in making Haryana Police as one of the best police force in the country. He said that recruitment on about 7000 posts would be carried out in Police Department, next year.
Speaking on this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Mr S.S. Prasad thanked the Chief Minister for dedicating such a mega housing complex to policemen in a single day. He also emphasized on smart policing.
Earlier, Director General of Police (DGP), Mr B.S. Sandhu welcomed the Chief Minister and said that these 384 houses have been got constructed through Haryana Police Housing Corporation at a cost of about Rs65 crore. Mr Sandhu also thanked the Chief Minister for ensuring transparent recruitment process in the state police force. In the last recruited batch of 4225 constables, he said that about 2600 policemen are either post-graduate or graduate.
The DGP also urged the police officials to make a positive change in their behavior while dealing with public in year 2019. He thanked the Chief Minister for taking welfare decisions in the interest of police personnel.
Chairman and Managing Director, Haryana Police Housing Corporation, Mr Parminder Rai presented vote of thanks on this occasion.
