CHANDIGARH, SEPT 13
Former Haryana Director General of Police Dr. M. S. Malik, IPS (Rtd.) and President, Jat Sabha Chandigarh and Federation of Jat Institutions, along with all members of the institutions condemned unprovoked and uncalled police firing and brutal lathi charge on innocent and peace loving citizens sitting on a peaceful dharna at village Mayar, District Hisar.
Dr. Malik added that these people were protesting and demanding OBC status for Jats in Haryana on the pattern of Rajasthan, as the Jats have already been declared OBC in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The illegal firing by District administration and police of Hisar have resulted into the killing of two innocent persons and injuring half a dozen peace loving citizens.
He further demanded that the state government should immediate order a magisterial enquiry into the illegal firing and announce adequate compensation to the dependents of those killed in police firing and for those injured during the firing.
Above all, Dr. Malik with all members of the Institutions also expressed heart felt condolences to the members of the bereaved families and called upon the members of community to maintain peace and order.
However, peaceful agitation for demand of OBC for Jats in India must continue in a non-violent Gandhian way. He also called upon the state government to initiate strict action against the officer/officers of district administration Hisar for use of excessive force on unarmed innocent people who were making a peaceful protest for their genuine demands.
