CHANDIGARH, JULY 2
Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij today directed Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Department to issue notices to 19 producers of canned food and beverages and ban sale of drinking water of three brands as their samples have been found unsafe in laboratory tests and some products were misbranded.
Mr Vij took a serious note of this issue during his meeting with senior officers of FDA Department here today.
Mr Vij said that water samples of sealed water bottles of 'Thanda Jal’ and 'Shri Om’ brand taken from Palwal were found completely unsafe. Similarly, sample of sweetened carbonated water of 'Percolime’ brand taken from Jind was also found unsafe and did not come upto the prescribed standard. The Health Minister immediately issued directions to ban the sale of bottled water of three brands in market.
The Health Minister said that samples of unpacked 'Khoya' taken from Fatehabad were found not upto the standard norm. Similarly, samples of cow milk and two samples of Abhinandan Desi Ghee taken from Kaithal also failed test. Samples of mango shake collected from Panipat, samples of ice cream collected from Kurukshetra, samples of mixed milk taken from Kaithal and three samples of cow milk, samples of unpacked tomato juice taken from Palwal also failed to meet the prescribed requirements. Therefore, directions have been issued to issue them notices.
The Health Minister said that besides this, two samples of Mirinda SCW of Coca Cola Company taken from Hisar have been found as misbranded. Similarly, samples of Doaba Desi Ghee, Easy max brand Desi Ghee and flavoured milk from Hisar and samples of Mast 3 Orange brand sweetened carbonated beverage were found misbranded. The department was directed to issue notices to them.
