The Haryana Governor, Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki, has said the 21st century belongs to India, the whole world is looking at our country and India has high hopes from Haryana.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the International Seminar on Shrimad Bhagwad Gita: Holistic Life Management and World Heritage Tourism, held in Kurukshetra, today, he said that a fresh wave of energy was sweeping the country, and India had begun to take a positive turn.
Referring to the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, the Governor said he took the people of the country as his high command. A survey has been got conducted by Time Magazine in which Mr Modi got the highest votes which clearly shows that India is progressing at a rapid pace.
He also recalled the words of Swami Vivekananda who had said that while 17th century belonged to England, 18th century belonged to France, 19th to Germany, 20th to America, and 21st century would belong to India.
The Governor said that India was passing through a process of reawakening, young India would lead the world in the 21st century and Bhagwad Gita would serve as the guiding principle. The Gita contains the principles for leading a holistic life, which can result in contentment and bring about a fine balance between the material and spiritual successes.
To achieve success in life, the messages and teachings of the Gita need to be imbibed in thought, words and action. He lauded the organizers for scaling up the Gita Jayanti celebrations to international level where delegates from over a dozen countries participated in the seminar in Kurukshetra University, and global chanting of the shalokas of Gita would be done in 25 countries at the same time.
Speaking on the occasion, the Education and Tourism Minister, Mr Ram Bilas Sharma, said that Bhagwad Gita which contained the saga of a battle, has several messages for every aspect of life. The Gita has been included in the curriculum of school education to infuse values in the young minds.
Gita Manishin Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj said that Gita did not deter one from achieving material success but enshrined upon individuals to balance it with spirituality.
Maulana Kokab Mujtaba, President, Ulema Foundation, Sawgawan Sadat, Amroha, and a scholar on Bhagwad Gita, made a vivid scholarly analysis of various aspects of the Gita which inspire the entire humanity.
He stressed the need for translating Bhagwad Gita into Urdu and other languages so that it is read and understood by people from other religions and they appreciate the universal character of Gita.
Shyam Gupta, National Convenor of Ekal Abhiyan, said that in order to achieve a national representation on Gita Jayanti, one person from each of the 574 districts of the country had been invited.
Mr David Frawley, founder of American Institute of Vedic Studies, Bhai Satpal Singh, Chairman, Ram Das Mission in US, also spoke. Haryana Chief Secretary Mr D. S Dhesi, presented the welcome address. Vice- Chancellor of Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra Dr. Kailash Chandra Sharma, presented a vote of thanks.
