Power would be supplied for 15, 21 and 24 hours every day to such villages in the state as would install electricity meters outside all houses in the village, not indulge in power theft, regularly pay electricity bills, and where line losses would range between 8 and 10 per cent. Out to incentivise such consumers as pay their electricity bills regularly and on time, the Haryana Government has constituted a committee to work out and suggest measures.
This was disclosed by Mr Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor, Chairman, Uttar and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigams, while speaking at functions organised in Kurukshetra and Yamunanagar, today.
He said that conceding the demand made by a large number of people, the state government had implemented the Surcharge Waiver Scheme and Voluntary Disclosure Scheme for declaring tampered or defective meters. People could benefit from these schemes by December 31, 2016. After the deadline, the power utilities would take stern action.
In the rural areas, about 60 per cent people get electricity bill at minimum rate of only Rs 1,296 for the year, and, on an average, only 10 per cent people are paying electricity bills. The state government has implemented a new scheme to benefit the average and other consumers.
At present, No Objection Certificate from the Power Department has been made mandatory for various government services such as passing of maps, issuing licences and other, he added.
INSTALLATION OF PoS MACHINES: The Haryana Government has constituted a team of four officers of Treasuries and Accounts Department and NIC to coordinate and facilitate departments for smooth installation of Point of Sale (PoS) Machines in government departments.
They are Joint Director, Mr. O.P. Bishnoi, Deputy Director, Mr. M.K. Gupta, Programmer, Mr. Sunil Bahal and Scientist ‘B’, Mr. Ashish Dhingra.
The State Government has already signed a MOU with State Bank of India for installation of POS Machines in various government departments.
Meanwhile Chairman, Uttar and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, Mr. Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor said that the State Government would provide 24 hour power supply to Panchkula from January 1, 2017. Besides, work was under progress to provide 24 hour power supply to district Kurukshetra.
He said that the State Government has distributed 67 lakh LED bulbs to the people and demanded 2.5 crore bulbs more for distribution. After getting these LED bulbs this, the officers of the power utilities would visit villages to ensure their distribution.
