Haryana State Council for Science and Technology, Panchkula, has invited nominations from eminent scientists in the State for ‘Haryana Vigyan Ratna Awards’ and ‘Haryana Yuva Vigyan Ratna Awards’ for 2017-18. The nominations should reach the office of the Council by November 30, 2017.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Council said that these awards had been instituted to honour eminent scientists of Haryana who have made outstanding contribution in the field of science and technology.
He said that this scheme was open for scientists who have spent 10 years either in education or in work in any institution or establishment in Haryana, and have made outstanding contributions in the field of science and technology, which are a cut above and have been well-acknowledged, in their respective fields of work.

Eminent scientists born before March 1, 1978 would be eligible for nomination under Haryana Vigyan Ratna Awards, and those who were born on or after March 1, 1978 would be eligible for nomination under Haryana Yuva Vigyan Ratna Awards. Self-nomination would not be entertained. For the Yuva award, the contributions over the last ten years would be considered and for the Vigyan Ratna Award, outstanding contribution of entire career would be considered.
The Haryana Vigyan Ratna Awards would carry cash prize of Rs four lakh, a citation and a trophy, whereas Haryana Yuva Vigyan Ratna Awards would carry cash prize of Rs one lakh, a citation and a trophy.
Those eligible to nominate include heads of national science academies, presidents of professional science, medical and engineering societies, Vice-Chancellors of universities, directors of research laboratories, president of Indian Medial Association, heads of departments in the Central and State Governments, directors of IITs, directors or principals of professional science, medical and engineering colleges, chairpersons or heads of registered societies of science and technology-based voluntary organisations and previous national awardees of science and technology-related awards or previous Haryana Vigyan Ratna awardees. The nominations would be submitted to Secretary, EC, Haryana State Council for Science and Technology, Bays Nos. 35-38, Sector-2, Panchkula.
