Online applications invited for Post-Matric scholarship for MC students

The Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Department has invited online applications for Post-Matric scholarship for students belonging to the minority communities for year 2017-18.
          While stating this today, a spokesman of the Department said that the applicants could send their applications for fresh scholarship by August 31 and applications for renewal scholarship byJuly 31, 2017.
          He said that students belonging to the minority communities namely Muslim, Sikh, Buddhist, Christian, Zoroastrian (Parsis) and Jain notified by the Central Government pursuing higher education, from class XI to Ph.D, including technical and vocational courses of industrial centres affiliated with National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) in government or recognised schools or institutes could apply for the scholarship to be awarded by the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs.
          He said that courses other than those listed under Merit-cum-Means Scholarship Scheme would be covered under the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme.
          He said students permanently residing in Haryana State are eligible for this scholarship. The annual income from all sources of the student’s parent should not exceed Rs two lakh. The continuance or new grant of award would be subject to securing 50 per cent marks in the previous examination. A scholarship holder under this scheme would not avail of any other scholarship or stipend for pursuing the same course. Aadhar Card number is mandatory to apply online. Apart from this, 30 per cent of scholarships are reserved for girl students, he added.
          The spokesman said that students who were studying in other states but are domicile of Haryana can also apply online. The students are advised to read the terms and conditions and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) available on the homepage of the website www.scholarships.gov.in before filling the online application.

GOVT SCHOOLS UPGRADED: The Haryana Government has upgraded one Government High School (GHS) to the level of Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) and four Government Primary Schools (GPS) to the level Government Middle Schools (GMS) in the districts of Gurugram, Karnal and Sirsa. 
          While stating this here today, Education Minister Mr Ram Bilas Sharma said that Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal has accorded approval to upgrade these schools to ensure quality education to the students in government schools. 
          He said that GHS Kadarpur, district Gurugram had been upgraded to the level of GSSS. Among the four primary schools upgraded to middle level included GPS Phoosgarh, GPS Shiv Colony in Karnal and GPS Dhani Shera and GPS, Kishanpura in Ellenabad, Sirsa.
