Tapping Mauritius expertise in construction of steel silos

CHANDIGARH, JULY 10
Haryana is exploring the possibilities of tapping Mauritius expertise in the construction of steel silos in the state. 
          A delegation led by the Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Mr Karan Dev Kamboj, today visited the silos of Meadors in Port Louis, Mauritius,and had a highly meaningful meeting with the Managing Director, Mr Jocelyn Fanchette, and his team on various issues, including technology, maintenance and funding.
          Silos are being extensively used for storage and preservation of various commodities like food grains, cattle feed, sugar and cement. Being an island-nation with limited self-production, scientific storage constitutes a critical component of its survival. Mauritius has acquired rich experience in this field a short period of time. The meeting proved to be highly useful.
          Later, the High Commissioner of India in Mauritius, Mr Abhay Thakur, organised a business meet with leading Industrialists of Mauritius in which President of the Mauritius Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Azim Currimejee, participated. 
          Others present included Mr Jacques M, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of M/s Omnicane, the largest agro-based industry of Mauritius,Mr Deepak Yardi, Managing Director of M/s Aadicon Biotechnology Limited, and Mr Darrell Appou of M/s Brandactiv an IBM Group Company.
          Mr Kamboj invited the groups for construction of steel silos in Haryana. Chairman Hafed, Mr Harvinder Kalyan, and MLA Mr Bhagwan Das Kabirpanthi, were also present on this occasion. TheAdditional Chief Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Mr S.S. Prasad, explained the projects in detail. The President MCCI evinced lot of Interest in the project and assured the delegation of their continued interaction on the issue.
