OM hails contribution of Haryana farmers, soldiers and sports persons

 CHANDIGARH, OCT  9:
 While paying rich tributes to great leader Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram, the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi today hailed the contribution of farmers, soldiers and sports persons of the State in enhancing the pride of country. He said that Haryana not only contributes maximum in the armed forces of the country but it also contribute 17  per cent in the national food basket, which is a major contribution.  The sportspersons of the state too are bringing laurels to the country and State by winning maximum medals.

          Mr Modi was addressing a mammoth Deenbandhu Samriti Rally in Sampla, district Rohtak today. On this occasion, the Prime Minister unveiled 64-feet tall statue of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram the tallest in Haryana and laid foundation stone of rail coach factory to be set up at village Barhi in district Sonipat.
          The Prime Minister said that the statue of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram which he dedicated to the people today would give a distinct identity to the Sampla and Rohtak. He also extended his congratulations in advance to the people of the State on the occasion of Haryana Day on November 1.  
       He said that today there is no village in the State, which did not have the representation in our armed forces. He said that the credit for this achievement goes to Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram as he motivated the farmers to join the Army during the British rule. Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram could not live in the independent India but he had a deep understanding of the challenges and aspirations of the people of the country.
        

  The Prime Minister also appreciated the State Government led by Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal for achieving the status of Open Defecation Free especially to the Maharashi Dayanand University which have achieved first position in the Swachhta Survey and said that the State has made a remarkable progress under the ambitious Beti Bachao Beti Padhao programme. The daughters of Haryana are continuously increasing the pride of country, he added. He also appreciated the State for having first beneficiary under the Ayushman Bharat Yojna. He said that within just two weeks after the launch of the scheme, about 50,000 poor people have either got treated or their treatment is in progress.
          While underlining the role of Haryana in the development of country, Mr Modi called upon the people to work unitedly for building a new nation as this would be a real tribute to Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram. He said that it is matter of pride that today that is on October 9 he has unveiled the statue of great leader Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram, the tallest in Haryana and on October 31, he would unveil the statue of Iron man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel which would be the tallest in the world. Both the leaders had worked for the welfare of farmers, he maintained. He said that Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram was the same leader who envisioned the Bakhra Dam and this is the result of his farsighted approach that farmers and  people of Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan are getting water.
          The Prime Minister said that the Rail Coach Factory which would come in village Barhi at a cost of Rs 500 crore would give impetus to the industrial development of Haryana and also provide employment opportunities to the youth. He said that with the setting up of Rail Coach Factory, 250 coaches of passenger train would be repaired and modernized every year. There would be no need to send such train coaches to far off factories for their upkeep. This would help increasing the availability of passenger coaches and the passengers would be able to get the facility of modern coaches.
       He said that the material including sheets, fans, fitting required for this Rail Coach Factory would be made available at the local level which would benefit the industries of Haryana. He said that this would also assist local engineers and technicians in enhancing their expertise in the field of rail coach factory. These experts would also be able to render their specialized services in the other parts of the country in the times to come, he added.
          Mr Modi said that during the last four years, the present BJP Government has not only honoured several great leaders and personalities but also tried to follow the path shown by them. Apart from this, various welfare measures have been taken for the welfare of farmers and small traders who were feeling helpless earlier. He said that bank accounts of as many as 66.50 lakh beneficiaries have been opened under the Jan Dhan Yojna. Apart from this, the process of obtaining loan from banks has been simplified. The India Post Payments Bank has been started to provide bank like services at the doorstep of people through postmen.

          While referring to various steps taken by the present government in the interest of farming community, he said that an arrangement has been made right from seed to market. Persistent steps are being taken for ensuring remunerative prices to the farmers, providing hybrid seeds and adequate water for irrigation.
          He said that in Haryana,  50 lakh Soil Health Cards (SHC) has been issued to the farmers to ensure that farmers get the benefit of seasonal crops. Apart from this, claim amount of Rs 350 crore has been distributed among the farmers on account of crop damage due to natural calamities. Water has reached to even those tail ends in the State which were deprived of water for last about 30 years.
          He said that recently a historic pact has been inked between six states for the construction of Lakhwar Dam which would benefit Haryana immensely. He said that on the pattern of Mandi Act got enacted by Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram nine-ten decades back for ensuring remunerative prices to the farmers, the present Government has launched a new scheme namely “Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay SanraksHan Abhiyan” (PM-AASHA). He said that present State Government is also realizing its promise of giving atleast 50 per cent profit to the farmers over and above the cost of production. MSP of 21 crops including wheat and sugarcane has been increased. The MSP of paddy has been increased by Rs 200 per quintal. Now the paddy  farmers would get MSP of Rs 1750 per quintal instead of Rs 1550 per quintal. Similarly the MSP of Maize, Sunflower and Bajra has been increased by Rs 275, Rs 1300 and Rs 525 per quintal respectively. Efforts were being made to double the income of farmers by 2022, he asserted.
          Speaking on the occasion,  the Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal  requested the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi to inaugurate the remaining section of Kundli Manesar Palwal (KMP) Expressway, the work on which is likely to be completed within one month. He said that Manesar Palwal section of the expressway has already been completed and made functional.
        While blaming the previous government in the state for delaying the project, he said that the present State Government has fastracked the work on the project which was stalled for last several years. He said that the State Government has also decided to develop Panch Gram Yojana along the expressway.
        Mr. Manohar Lal said that during his last visit the Prime Minister had also announced to rename Garhi Sampla village as Chhotu Ram Nagar. Recalling the contribution made by Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram, the Chief Minister said that the great farmer leader had undertaken various welfare works for the upliftment of villagers, labourers and farmers. He said that Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram had got implemented the rule of 8-hour work for labourers and one-day holiday for traders.
        The Chief Minister said that following the vision of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram, the present Government had launched Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and Bhavantar Bharpayee Yojana for the welfare of farmers. As a result of the welfare policies and schemes of the government, the state has been moving ahead at both national and international level.
         He said that a provision is being made for the registry of property lying within ‘laal dora’ in villages. Apart from this, the State Government has also abolished ‘Remand Pratha’ in the interest of farmers so that they would not have to make frequent rounds of the Revenue Courts to get their land-related issues settled. He said that the state also ensured transparency in government jobs and now youth were getting jobs on merit basis. He said that 8.25 lakh youth have so far been provided employment under Skill Development Programme.
        Speaking on the occasion, Union Steel Minister, Mr. Birender Singh thanked the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi for making the farmers financially strong. He said that Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram had resolved to work for the welfare of poor, farmers, people belonging to Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes. It was Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram who raised voice for Minimum Support Prices for crops. He said that Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram envisioned the Bhakra Dam in 1923 and today the farmers of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan are getting sufficient water.
Himachal Pradesh Governor, Acharya Devvrat also recalled the contribution made by Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram for the upliftment of farmers, poor and people belonging to weaker sections of the society.
        Jammu and Kashmir Governor, Mr. Satyapal Malik said that the Swaminathan Report would immensely benefit the farmers.
        Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr. O.P. Dhankar said that Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram had worked for the welfare of farmers and poor. He got the lands of farmers freed from clutches of landlords, got their loans waived off and ensured better prices of their produce. People used to call him as ‘Chota Ram’. The State Government has been working to implement the ideals of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram in letter and spirit.
        State BJP President, Mr. Subhash Barala said that since independence, if anyone has ever tried to realize the vision of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram then it was only Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi.
        Others present on the occasion included Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Krishan Pal, Haryana Governor, Mr. Satyadeo Narain Arya.
