Rudra emphasizes need of adopting international marketing strategies by farmers

CHANDIGARH, OCT 11: 
Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Mr. Parshottam Rupala emphasized the need of adopting international marketing strategies by the farmers and said that linking of national agriculture market with World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) would contribute significantly in development and welfare of farming community.
           Mr Rupala was speaking on the occasion of inauguration of two-day 32nd World Conference of World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) being organized in Gurugram today. Delegates from a total of 19 countries from five continents, Embassies and diplomatic officers from 16 countries and over 50 Indian delegates from different State Agricultural Marketing Boards of India are participating in this conference.
           While describing the WUWM conference as an important step towards the progress of farmers, Mr Rupala said that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, various steps are being taken by the Central Government for enhancing the productivity as well income of the farmers. He said that it is for the time in the history of the country that a conference of wholesale market has been organized in india keeping in view the interest of farmers adding that such type of conferences would prove to be milestone in realizing Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi’s vision of building a new India.
           Mr Rupala said that farmers would be made more resourceful through linking of e-NAM (National Agriculture Market) system with WUWM. Appreciating the Haryana Government especially Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Mr O.P Dhankar, he said that Haryana is the first state in the country to implement Bhavantar Bharpai Yojna for the benefit of farmers by using digital technology which clearly reflects the pro-farmer approach of the present State Government.
           He said that the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi’s ambition is to ensure that the farmers get remunerative prices of their produce through linking of e-NAM system with International Trade Forums. He said that the suggestions received in the two-day conference here would go a long way in taking concrete decisions in the interest of farming community. Today Haryana is producing rice more than the prescribed quantities of international standards, which is a significant achievement but there is a need to link it with international trade markets, he added.   
            Speaking on this occasion, Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Mr O.P Dhankar said that modern mandis of international standards were being set up in the State for the prosperity of farmers. He said that a flower mandi would be set up in Gurugram with the collaboration of International Flora market of Rio-De-Janerio. Apart from this, an apple market was being set up in Pinjore. He said that a huge market was also being developed in Gannaur, district Sonipat over 600 acre of land.
            Mr Dhankar said that this two-day conference has been organized for detailed deliberations on the improvement of wholesale markets. He said that persistent efforts were being made by the present State Government  to safeguard the interests of farmers. He said that Bhavantar Bharpai Yojna implemented by the State Government is being emulated by other states also. He said the scheme has been linked with digital technique so as to ensure that the benefit of scheme reached to the actual beneficiaries without the interference of middlemen.
Among those present on this occasion included Chairperson, Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board Mrs Krishana Gahlawat, Chairman Haryana Kisan Ayog Mr Ramesh Yadav, Director WUWM Dr J.S Yadav, Additional Chief Secretary Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Haryana Mrs Navraj Sandhu, Director Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Mr D.K Behra, Chief Administrator Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board Mr Hardeep Singh, Director Horticulture Dr Arjun Saini, Deputy Commissioner Mr Vinay Pratap Singh and representatives of delegation of various countries.
