Vice Chancellors and Pro Vice Chancellors of all the Universities in Haryana would now attain superannuation at the age of 68 years.
A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of the State Cabinet
held under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister, Mr.Bhupinder Singh Hooda here today.
The Cabinet approved an amendment in the Acts of these universities to increase the age limit for superannuation. The State Technical Universities included Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and
Technology, Hisar, Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology, Murthal and YMCA University of Science and Technology, Faridabad. The four State Universities are Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Ch.Devi Lal University, Sirsa and Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya,
Khanpur Kalan. The other universities are CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar and Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak.
For effective administration of the universities and to retain eminent and seasoned persons, it would be in the fitness of things to increase the superannuation age for Vice Chancellors and Pro Vice Chancellors from the present 65 years to 68 years.
Also, the Cabinet approved an amendment to increase the age of superannuation of Vice Chancellor or Pro Vice Chancellor of Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak.
It was decided that the CCS Haryana Agricultural University (HAU), Hisar should also follow suit to maintain the uniformity in the matter of all universities funded by the State Government. As there is no Pro Vice Chancellor in the CCS HAU at present, this increase in age will be applicable to the future incumbent whenever appointed.
As the State Legislature is not in session and the decision is to be given effect immediately, an ordinance would be issued.
