CM calls upon legal fraternity to join Govt to root out menace of terrorism

 Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has called upon the legal fraternity to join hands with the Government to root out the menace of terrorism. A strong message must go to the world that acts of terror will not go unpunished, he said.

 Mr Hooda was speaking at the International Conference of Jurists on International Terrorism at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi today. He said that the acts of the terrorism hamper our progress. It is here, that the Government solicits the help of jurists to give a befitting response to the acts of terror within the parameters of law. Your acumen can help us intensify our efforts in our fight against terror. The case of Ajmal Kasab is a fine example in this regard, he said.

The Conference was presided over by Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr Farooq Abdullah. Chairman of National Human Rights Commission Mr Justice Dr K.G. Balakrishnan, Chief Justice of Mauritius Mr Justice Y.K.J. Yeung Sik Yeun, Minister of Justice UAE  Dr Hadef Jawa’an Al Dhaheri, Attorney General of Myanmar Dr Tun Shin, President of International Council of Jurists Dr Adish C. Aggarwal were also present on this occasion, besides a number of Judges, lawyers and law students.

Mr Hooda said that Government is providing necessary resources and training to the forces and internal law enforcement agencies to equip them to handle emergent situations in the event of terrorist acts. Single most important responsibility of the Government is the safety of the people and the Government will leave no stone unturned to ensure safety and security of the people, he said.

Mr Hooda said that we must act within the confines of our Constitution and fight terrorism within the rule of law, at the same time preserving our fundamental values of justice, freedom, liberty, equality and dignity. Repression, injustice and suppression of speech can help the enemy in spreading hatred against us, which can diminish the support from outside.

Mr Hooda emphasized that we will not allow our innocent citizens to fall prey to the evil designs of terrorists. The State Government will deal with terrorists with an iron hand and maintain peace and harmony.

Mr Hooda congratulated Dr Adish Aggarwal for holding an International Conference of Jurists on such an important issue and expressed hope that the deliberations of the Conference will result in following better coordination against terrorism.

Colourful start to Pinjore Heritage Festival

 The two-day 8^th Pinjore Heritage Festival being organised by Haryana Tourism kicked off on a colourful note at Pinjore Gardens, district Panchkula on November 30, 2013. The Festival celebrates the erstwhile heritage of the town and its Mughal Gardens. On the occasion of the Heritage Festival, the Gardens wore a festive look with colourful drapes and flowers adorning the gates and arches of the royal Gardens.

 Talking to newsmen Managing Director, Haryana Tourism Corporation, Mrs Sumita Mishra said that the main objective behind organizing this program is to apprise the people about our culture and heritage in addition to their entertainment. She said that since early morning, the students from various schools of Pinjore, Panchkula and Chandigarh have made a beeline at the Gardens to enroll themselves for various competitions like face painting and Henna application through which the students under various categories have been given a golden opportunity to showcase their hidden talent. The entertaining cultural programmes and folk dances being put up by students and artistes of NZCC, Patiala and NCZCC, Allahabad on the stage had glued the visitors on their chairs.

She said that the added attractions of the Festival are the Food Court where the students from State Institutes of Hotel Management from Rohtak, Panipat, Kurukshetra and Faridabad have rustled up spicy and mouth-watering treats for the visitors. The crafts bazaar had craftspersons from across the country display their arty stuff from jewellery to ethnic wear, accessories and home décor items. She said that very soon an amusement park would be opened adjacent to Pinjore Heritage Garden to attract people and children towards it.

The Festival would conclude on December 1, 2013  from 11 am to 7 pm. Haryana Roadways is also plying special buses to Pinjore Gardens. In Face Painting Competition under Junior Group,     Tanya from St. Vivekanand Millennium School, Pinjore stood first,     Aishwarya, Hansraj Public School, Panchkula and      Asifali, Jawahar Navodya Vidyalya, Mauli Jagran, Panchkula stood second and third respectively. Under Senior Wing,     Mahesh from St. Vivekanand Millennium School, Pinjore stood first and Himani, St. Soldier Sr. Sec. School, Zirakpur and     Jyoti Devi ,Government Sr. Sec. School, Basola stood second and third respectively.

            In Henna Application Competition, under Junior Wing, Muskan from St. Soldier School, Dhakoli stood first and     Ambani, Nobel High School, Pinjore and     Maya, Girls Government  Sr. Sec. School, Sector 15, Panchkula stood second and third respectively. Under Senior Wing,      Harpreet Kaur, Government Sr. Sec. School, Kalka stood first whereas      Manisha from  Government Sr. Sec School, Pinjore and Mamta from Hindu Sr. Sec School, Kalkastood second and third respectively. In group Dance Competition,   Govt. Girls Senior School, Barwala bagged first position,     St. Vivekananda Millennium School, Panchkula stood second and Hans Raj School, Sector 6, Panchkula stood third. In Solo dance (4-8 years),     Mehak Bakshi, Hansraj Public School, Sector 6, Panchkula stood first and Kanak Hooda, Little Flower School, Sector 14, Panchkula stood second. Pinjore Heritage Festival from Nov 30

 The two-day 8th Pinjore Heritage Festival would be organized at Pinjore Gardens, near here,  on November 30 and December 1, 2013 with traditional fervor and enthusiasm. 

          While giving this information here today,  Managing Director, Haryana Tourism Corporation Mrs. Sumita  Misra said that the two-day Heritage Festival would be inaugurated by Chairman, Haryana Tourism Corporation Mr. Chakrvarty Sharma  and Speaker, Haryana Vidhan Sabha Mr. Kuldeep Sharma would be Chief Guest during the closing ceremony of the festival on December 1.

          Mrs. Misra said that cultural evenings would be organized during the Heritage Festival where  renowned artistes would give their performances. On November 30, Kathak Recital would be staged by Rashtriya Kathak Sansthan, Lukhnow. Also, the renowned Indian classical singers namely Mr. Rajan and Sajan Misra would give their presentations. On December 1, International Punjabi sufi music duo Hari and Sukhmani would enthrall the audiences with their performance, she added.

Panel to enquire into running of commercial activities in SIDCO Shivalik Apartment

The Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon Mr Shekhar Vidyarthi today constituted a five-member committee to enquire into the issue of running commercial activities like guest houses and company offices in SIDCO Shivalik Apartment of IMT, Manesar.

          Mr Vidyarthi was presiding over the monthly meeting of District Grievances Committee  as the Chairman of the Committee, Ms Sharda Rathore, Chief Parliamentary Secretary could not make it to the meeting because of her sickness. Out of 15 applications of grievances put up in the meeting, a majority of these were redressed on the spot by the Deputy Commissioner.

          In today’s meeting, the Resident Welfare Association (RWA) of SIDCO Shivalik Apartments, Sector 1, IMT Manesar complained that commercial activities like guest houses and offices of companies were being run illegally in their apartments. Due to these activities, the  atmosphere of the apartments has been spoiled to the extent that usually residues of even urine can be seen in lifts. Moreover, cases of theft and breaking of locks of houses have increased. At this Mr Vidyarthi constituted a five member committee consisting of Deputy General Manager, HSIIDC (IMT Manesar) Mr Divya Kamal, representative of RWA Ramphal Yadav, ACP Manesar, General Manager,  District Industries Centre and nominated member of the committee Bhim Vasudev. The Committee will enquire into the matter and submit its report to the Deputy Commissioner within 15 days.

          Another committee of four members was constituted to take first hand information of the problems of village Ramgarh Dhani. This committee consists of Senior Town Planner and Executive Engineer of Municipal Corporation Gurgaon (MCG) alongwith two nominated members of the grievances committee namely Ranjeet Singh Yadav and Raj Kumar Jain. A resident of Ramgarh Dhani had complained that their village lies in ward-25 and is surrounded by a number of housing projects of private builders. The MCG officials said that the village lies in an unapproved area so development works cannot be taken up. As Mr Vidyarthi was not satisfied with the reply, he constituted a fact finding committee.

          Regarding complaint of telecom tower in local Harinagar, the Joint Municipal Commissioner Anju Chaudhary said  in the meeting that the MCG has got survey conducted and found that there are 380 towers in district Gurgaon. None of them comply with the norms of MCG. Therefore they were issued notices but the tower owners challenged it in the court. Therefore, the matter is sub-judice. However, the complainant has been provided relief to the extent that flow of waste water from the generator set of the tower into complainants’ house has been stopped.

          The matter of a private school demanding donation for giving admission in pre-nursery class was deferred to next meeting because of absence of complainant. However, the District Education Officer reported that the complainant had not applied to admit  his children to that school. In case of charging of  fee from a Scheduled Caste student by a private school of sector-7, the Deputy Commissioner directed that let the Principal present his views before the committee in next meeting. In the complaint regarding construction of a room using boundary wall of Government Primary School Rathiwas Jat and leaving windows towards the school, it was informed by the District Development  and Panchayat Officer Alka Chaudhary that the room has been demolished. But Mr Vidyarthi directed the District Education Officer to pull up the Principal for this laxity and seek his explanation.

Haryana ranks second in fish production

 With an average fish production  of  5800 kilograms per hectare, Haryana  ranks second in fish production in the country.

          While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that the Fisheries Department has,  since the year 2005,spent a sum of Rs 171 crore for implementation of various schemes. He said that the plan and non-Plan budget of the department in the year 2004-05 was Rs 10.7 crore whereas it has increased upto Rs 27.18 crore in the year 2013-14.

          He said that the Fisheries Department has set a target to produce 1.20 lakh tonnes of fish in the year 2013-14. Since the year 2005, more than 6.76 lakh tonnes of fish has been produced. The State Government has approved a sum of Rs 48.90 crore under the 12^th Five Year Plan for implementation of various schemes of the Department.

          He said that farmers engaged in fish farming were being given electricity on the pattern of agriculture sector at a rate of 25 paise per unit and with a view to increase the income of farmers, VAT has been waived off on fish food. As many as 5647 families belonging to Scheduled Castes who were engaged in fish farming have been benefitted under the scheme being run for their welfare.

          Keeping in view the demand of ornamental fish, a hatchery has been constructed in the Fish Seed Farm at Saidpura, district Karnal and it has been strengthened at a cost of Rs 25 lakh under the National Agriculture Development Plan. Apart from this, 37 diagnostic laboratories for examination of soil and water have been strengthened in the State.

          He said that a State Fish Seed Farm having capacity  to produce 30 lakh fish seed every year has been set up at a cost of Rs 36 lakh  at Ottu, district Sirsa. As many as 15 Government Fish Seed Farms and 16 Private Fish Seed Hatcheries have been set up in the State. He said that the income of panchayats has also increased after the rural ponds were given on lease for fisheries. Through this ponds the panchayats used to earn about Rs 125 crore every year and so far since the year 2005, the panchayats have earned income of about Rs 700 crore.
