Haryana has bagged
six awards in the N.S.S. National Indira Gandhi Awards 2013. The President, Mr.
Pranab Mukherjee has conferred
the awards in the award function organized recently at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New
Delhi.
While giving this information here today, a spokesman of the Education
Department said that ten N.S.S Programme Officers, ten N.S.S. Units and 30
N.S.S. Volunteers from all over India were conferred with this prestigious
award. Haryana has bagged six awards out of the total forty awards. The
contribution of Higher Education Department, NSS Volunteers and Programme
Officers in Haryana has been recognized at the National Level, he added.
He said that Programme Officer of BPSM Girls College, Khanpur Kalan, Mrs.
Sushma Joshi has bagged the Indira Gandhi N.S.S Programme Officer Award. This
award has been given to her for donating blood for 22 times and also for
pledging to donate her eyes and body. She has also organized programmes on
water resource management, disaster management, drug abuse and legal literacy.
She has organized many blood donation camps and collected 1106 units of blood.
She has planted 4713 saplings. Also, she led the Haryana contingent in Republic
Day Parade 2013 and was a member of Indian Delegation in 8thCommonwealth
Youth Ministers Meet at Papau New Guinei. She was awarded with Rs 20000 cash,
silver medal and certificate, he added.
The spokesman said that the N.S.S. Unit-II of BPSM Girls has bagged Indira
Gandhi N.S.S Best Unit Award and was given a shield and cash prize of Rs
70,000. He said that N.S.S. Volunteer of BPSM Girls College, Khanpur Kalan, Ms.
Pooja Kumari has bagged Indira Gandhi N.S.S Best Volunteer Award. This award
has been given for her excellent performance as N.S.S Volunteer. She was
awarded with Rs 15,000 cash, silver medal and certificate.
He said that N.S.S. Volunteer of T.D.L Government College for Women, Murthal,
Ms. Pooja has bagged the Indira Gandhi N.S.S Best Volunteer Award. She was
awarded with Rs 15,000 cash, silver medal and certificate. Similarly, N.S.S
Volunteer of College of Agriculture, Hisar, Mr. Devender Singh Kamboj has also
bagged Indira Gandhi N.S.S Best Volunteer Award. He was awarded with Rs 15000
cash, silver medal and certificate.
