Haryana Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Minister, Rao Narbir Singh, said that for the first time in Haryana, it has been decided to use green technology for construction of roads.

The Minister was interacting with media persons after presiding over a review meeting of Circle Superintending Engineers of the Department here today.
He said that green technology is being used for construction of a 5-kilometre road from Hansi to Sultanpur and there is a plan to use this technology for construction of roads in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Rewari and Karnal this year.
He said that with a view to end corruption in the Department, the process of Letter of Credit (LOC) to contractors would be made online. He said that a State Quality Monitoring Cell had been constituted at the headquarters for monitoring of projects costing more than Rs three crore. A special campaign is being run to make the roads pothole-free and a WhatsApp number has been issued which could be used by anyone to register complaints regarding damaged roads, he added.
He said that with a view to strengthen the road infrastructure in the State, for the first time since the formation of Haryana, about Rs 250 crore were saved on the basis of progress of the road project works allocated in 2015-16. He said that during 2016-17, roads with a total length of 5,605 km would be strengthened at a cost of Rs 1,818 crore.
Replying to a question, the Minister said that at present the Department was looking after the maintenance of 24,732km roads. These included 1,284km National Highways, 1,801km State roads, 1,395km main district roads and 20,384km other district roads.
Replying to another question, he said that the Union Railway Ministry has been urged to do away with unmanned railway crossings and approval has been granted for construction of railway over bridges at nine locations. He said that under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana’, Rs 192.65 crore would be spent on three new bridges, six new roads and strengthening of 20 roads. He said that rest houses would be constructed at Gurgaon, Panchkula, Dosadka, Guhla, Pehowa, Shahabad, Kaneena and Nuh at a cost of Rs 82 crore and Rs two crore were being spent on renovation of rest house at Sonipat.
Replying to a question regarding construction of railway underbridge in Charkhi Dadri, the Minister said that he had met Union Railways Minister, Mr. Suresh Prabhu regarding this matter. A survey report has been prepared and submitted to the Railways Ministry.
Replying to another question regarding felling of a large number of trees during the recent agitation in the state, Rao Narbir said that FIRs had been registered in this regard. However, no particular individual had been identified and action would be taken as soon as the accused are identified. He said that discussion regarding establishment of herbal forest in Morni by Baba Ramdev was underway and work on this project could be started before June 21.
